1 Amber, if you read the posts on this site it will become obvious that the citizens of Biloxi are suffering due to their lack of foresight in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Where there mayor chose a path of "quick fix", which naturally evolved into failure, we, in OS, refused to compromise our normal high standards. What you are seeing is jealously rearing its head. |

1 Well amber lee here is what I have heard: the land where the deli is located was donated to the city for the public by a private family (for public use back in the day), and the city sold it too you know whom.………….. What about the cedar point land deal with USM in the 90’s???? |
The deli property was owned by the Fayard family and Earl Fayard ran an ice house business for the shrimp boats in the area. Earl sold the property to the current owner who built Harbor Landing.
Jacob you are 100% correct. The property where the boat shed was also owned by the Fayards.
Anyone know the name of this place?
Talk about a legacy. Mis-spelled words, run on sentences, using the retarded as an insult, foul language. Now, if anyone was a candidate for a retroactive abortion - well Eddie, keep on smiling. Twit. |

Not really. Actually the land was a gift to our community from the Anderson family. At the time of the gift the family was promised the land would never be used for commercial purposes and the people of our community would always honor the intent of the wonderful gift. Of course our government officials lied and went back on their word and completely dishonored themselves -- if that means anything in today's world. And on the original topic - Amber, you are right -- we, the public, are being abused by the situation. |
Not really...I moved here in the late 60's and the property was privately owned already and I operated a shrimp boat buying ice from the Fayards for probably 15 years. If a deal like you mentioned was made by the city to the Anderson family it was at least 40-50 years ago and any breach of an agreement like you describe was violated by Aldermen from that era...most of whom are deceased. |
NO! The property was being squatted on. There was no ownership. And as to the aldermen, the harbor at the time did not belong to the aldermen. The gift was to the county -- all jurisdictional issues aside, at the time the Andersons gave the gift the present use was precluded. You can come up with all the technicalities you wish, state, county, harbor commission, city, whose on first -- but you can't shake one basic premise. The gift was from the Anderson family. The nature of the gift precluded the present use. We, whatever govt. entity, did not honor the integrity of the gift. |

1 The ownership and zoning issues on the boat barn are a done deal. We need to focus on making the business owners live up to their promises and the city and county regulations. For example: not storing boat trailers on the property, not blocking traffic, keeping the place clean, actually providing the required on-site parking places,... |
