Truck hits boys getting off bus

This should be considered more than a "tragedy". This man should be punished. Hwy 57 in that area is VERY congested daily from three to about six p.m. That is no excuse to break the law. IT IS THE LAW TO STOP WHEN A SCHOOL BUS HAS IT'S STOP SIGN DEPLOYED. This man intentionally with no regard for the safety of ANYONE ran that stop sign and very well could have KILLED two children. Let me guess... he was in a hurry? Well I think that being in a hurry is no excuse for anything. If a doctor leaves a metal clamp in a patient during surgery because "he was in a hurry" that doctor is punished. If a person rear-ends another car because "he was in a hurry" he is punished. Get the point? That driver did not accidently pass that bus. He intended to pass the bus. Therefore he should get a stiffer punishment than if it happened to be some sort of accident. Do you think that same man would cross through a rail road crossing when a train is 3 feet from his truck if he was in a hurry? HELL NO! This man put his impatience ahead of the safety of two children - ON PURPOSE! You have to take a test to get a license and on that test it tells you more than you'll ever need to know about school crossings, school busses, and school zones. EVERYONE knows to stop - he cannot use that excuse either!

has there been another school bus accident? The one I heard about was a woman who hit the two boys on Hwy 57. I think I'd check the facts before I started writing about it.

I agree with you 100%. however this was a woman who did this and she obviously is condidered "one of the good ole boys" because this will be shoved under the rug along with Mr. Randy Mcclendon, the ex-jailer who killed his wife.
In jackson county it is all about who you are and who you know.
Kinda of a strange thing when my neighbor was arrested just because someone accused her of something. Sheriff office had no evidence and there was no investigation. They just believed what they were told and arrested her, but someone can run over two children while in the process of breaking a couple of laws (with witnesses)and they pat her on the back and say its okay.

man or woman it is still wrong what she did.
it seems most people are more sympathic to her than the children she hit. does anyone know how they are doing?
she should have been taken directly to jail.

whoa! stop the plows! I didn't mean to insinuate that there was nothing wrong with it -- just stating that I thought it was a woman not a man who hit the boys and wondered if it had happened again. I wholeheartedly agree that this should not go unpunished -- hopefully, it won't!!

i apologize im sure you werent being sympathic to her. i was mostly referring to the editorial in the Ms. Press from the woman who defended this lady and wasnt the least bit concerned with the children.
i too hope it doesnt go unpunished, but it looks like that is what is happening.

how can they just let this go? Many years ago my sister passed a school bus on a divided street; the bus was going the opposite direction she was going in and stopped to let the kids off. She got a ticket for $130.00 (this was probably 15 years ago: it was a lot of money at that time) and was stopped from going that way for a period of time. My how things have changed. This woman passed four cars -- its bazaar that nothing will happen to her. I can't imagine why the families are not upset over this. Hopefully, she doesn't go out and try her luck again!!!!

it is sad that her child was having problems, but it still doesnt give her the right to do what she did. the law is the law and it should be enforced.
i wish we could find out more.

What has happened to the children that got hit? Any news on them? After the lady hit the children , did she ever take the baby to the emergency room?
I heard the lady was late for the babys Doctor Appt. that she wasnt going to the emergency room.
I betcha the baby was fine after hitting the boys...
