City Hall - Water and Sewer Department

I just left city hall after paying my water and sewer bill and would have felt cleaner coming out of a whorehouse. The new billing method came without explanation or guidance so I was confused as to whether they were saying I was deliquent or was there a new system and this was my current months billing. I suggested to the young black girl behind the counter that an explanation would have been helpful in understanding the new billing system and the reaction from her was to cop an attitude and not even address my comments. Do I think she is racist.....yes I do and further, it must have the implicit OK from city hall to act this way toward OS citizens because the Obamanites were just re-elected and have four more years to pad their incumbency by hiring more people like the one in the water department. I have no hope for change then either because if the candidates then are as bad as the last group it makes no difference. I did report it to the mayor's office and it will probably do as much good as talking to the girl in the water department. There, I've had my say/rant and I'll stick with it.

So ... the "hope" and "change" isn't working for you? Me neither. I fear for our future.

Did the Mayor promise "no new taxes" when she was running?

Never ever put a Black person in a public office, first they cop an attitude and second you can never fire them!

It doesnt make a DAMN bit of difference whether or not this rude city employee was black. Stupidity knows no race. Even if you are 100% correct about the way you were treated, I'm sure it had nothing to do with the color of your skin. If you were a black person that hated white people would city hall in Ocean Springs be the ideal place to be? Just call it what it was; a rude person. I dont like our presidents ideas either, but it has nothing to do with him being black. And may I ask what in the hell does Obama have to do with a rude black girl at the water department? When you start making wild accusations you lose support. If she is an ass, Im sure that its natural, not because of a presidential election or a city election. There are morons in every race, and there are several different kinds in city government!

Say what you may but she can be as rude as she wants now and not get fired cause she's black. I wish I could get away with that crap! I would be fired in a heartbeat!

Customer service in most places is no longer an emphasis. Watch the waitstaff at any restaurant, they will not make eye contact with customers as they walk past your table for fear you will stop them and ask for something.
I got the worse service EVER at the old "Master Grill" a few weeks ago. Rather than stiff the waitress, I left her a penny. Do you think she got the message? Doubtful ... but I was so appalled by the poor service I will make sure I never sit in her section again. Oh, BTW, I NORMALLY tip 20% if the service is outstanding.

to those who cant understand the new water bills....they look exactly like the old ones,just bigger.didnt have any problems reading mine....i think ya'll just need something to bitch about.

Grumpy you should have kept that penny and gave it to someone who cares. Sounds like you are complaining about the eatery's all over Ocean Springs. The worst service..........the worst food..........the worst this the worst that. I'll bet there isn't a day that goes by that you are RUDE to people just because you are a Grumpy ole Fart. How do you know what was going on in her life that day. People have bad days you know.

They are not tipped for giving service, that's expected. They get a TIP for great service. If they are having a bad day, their day will continue to be bad because they will be going home with empty pockets. They're not paid to treat customers poorly.

I have had the opposite experience at City Hall. No, it wasn't the water department, but the white alderman who was rude as could be to me,I'm white but my point is EVERYONE is rude at city hall & they don't give a damn about the people, they might as well call themselves aristocrats and us peasants. You might as well talk to the wall as to anyone there about your problems with this city.

We tried to get rid of our rude white alderman because he does not listen to the ward residents and of course were beaten by the group at the Villa Maria who thinks he is great because he buys them food every now and then, yall know who I mean.

I sure wish all the people who have been treated rudely by those in power would come out and vote in the next election, otherwise they will go on being as nasty as they want to be and pleased about it too.

I believe you are also one of those harbor hitler types who want to tell people what they can do with their property. I don't live on the harbor and the only harbor Hitler I know is that guy who plays the rude outdoor music to everyone. The alderman Redfish is talking about was rude as can be to a lady who simply wanted to make a point, I was there.

Nobody wants to tell someone what to do with their property, that's what zoning law is for. You follow the rules and there is no fighting. When some good ole boy thinks he is special and doesn't do what is allowed and the city does nothing, that's when there is trouble.

What bothers me is that the city seems to cater to these rude, aggressive types and ignores people who just want things to be quiet and peaceful. Why?
