For all the ladies out there with color treated hair . . . I called Coppola yesterday and spoke to a rep. You can color your hair or highlight it. It will take some of it out just as shampooing does but will not completely strip it but they said it will take more than one shampoo would. Bleach will take more out than color as it is more stripping. Either way you should wait at least 2 weeks after having it done before coloring.

Hi...i am a hair stylist..had the brazillian one done last year and it was a bit flat..just had the Coppola done a month 1/2 ago and it is absolutely amazing!! my hair is frizz free and still has the bounce i like! it use to take me 35 minutes to blowdry my hair and then flat iron for a few..i now blow it in 10 with no iron..it does notr have the same bad smell that the brazillian one has so its obviously alot better..please note that chlorine can't be left in for a long period of time it can strip some of the treatment and always use the shampoo they recommend..i just went to a product knowledge class that coppola hosted..IT'S one of the best inventions i have ever wittnessed in this industry and i know first hand! Maya is absolutely right with her comment above! also,if you have virgen hair(meaning not chemically treated) it wont work as well..this product is designed to work with chemically treated hair so the best thing about it is you do not have to worry about breakage or even overlapping..relazers grow out of the hair where this fades out..your hair does however still grow in the same(does not chang your Dna..wink wink :))I cant say any more than its GREEEEEEAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!

Also..4got to mention bleach absolutely takes some of it out so try to do it before you do the treatment..if you are tinting your base it does not really matter because most likely you are just doing your new growth and who cares..it has not been treated if it grew out after your treatment! chlorine is a HUGE no no..i still got into chlorine on my last vaca however i rinsed as soon as i got out of the pool.. do not let any1 mislead you and promise that it last a certain amount of time..the more freaquently you shampoo and use chemicals after this treatment the more it strips it..i did my highlites right before and i will do my next set the next time i have the treatment done..you can just tint your base in between..any decentstylist knows not to overlap blaech unless going lighter or changing the pattern of highlites so if its a must that you get you hilights touched up just ask your stylist to keep your existing pattern so only the newgrowth is done and it will not affect the treatment much..(that is after the treatment is done)be careful not to get the hair wet after treatment is done and flat iron any kinks every day until you shampoo it! Best of luck!!

Yes. I had the japanese treatment about a year ago, and the stylist that did my coppla treatment said it would even help to grow out the japanese roots. I LOVE IT!!! The coppola treatment is about a month old now, and it's the best thing ever.

Has anyone did the Paul Mitchell relaxing treatment? If so, how does it compare to the coppola treatment.

Hi Michele,
The Paul Mitchell relaxer is a chemical relaxer. It uses strong chemicals to change the internal structure of the hair. I would suggest that you do not have this done since there are so many better alternatives out there.
The Coppola Treatment does not break down the internal structure. It is a demi permanent smoother/straightener. Eventually it will wash off/wear off the hair. The results depend on the porosity of the hair and the degree of curl going into the treatment.
Some people will have straight results, others will have a reduced curl pattern. The keratin treatments are wonderful for getting rid of frizz too.
Please find the most experienced person you can and they will guide you in the direction that is best for you, your wallet and your hair, whether that is Japanese Thermal Straightening, a Keratin Treatment or a Hybrid Fusion process. Or... a combination of any of these.

I had the coppola done yesterday, Tuesday, but the hairdresser did not tell me what shampoo to use....can you please help me? Also, can any conditioner be used? I have very dry, coarse hair, yet my scalp is very oily and gets itchy, so I need something that really cleans... my hair is best when it is really clean...I previously did the Yuko, but it I am tired of the limitations with that process.....I am anxious to hear what Denise Kingsley thinks...she sounds so knowledgeable.....thanks
Can anyone provide me with a salon that offers the keratin complex product in the Los Angeles area? Where did you get yours done? Thanks

I had the Keratin complex treatment done on my hair and it was fantastic. I do not have curly hair, but I do have wavy and kind of frizzy unruly hair. After the treatment my hair was straight, shiny and beautiful. I usually couldn't leave the house until I blow dried and then straightened or curled it (tamed it down in some way). With the keratin I didnt even have to dry it! The only down fall is that you are supposed to leave it in for 72 hours before you wash your hair and it feels gross in your hair. I would suggest that you get it done on a Thursday and don't plan anything for your weekend cause your hair will feel gross. Then the other thing is it is pretty expensive and only lasts up to 6 months. I only left the treatment in for about 8 hours, I couldnt stand the feel of my hair and I had to work the next day. I got the treatment for free if I had paid for it, I would have left it in longer. It has now been almost 2 months, and I do still see the effects of the treatment, but I have to straighten my hair now, and blow dry it, but is still not as frizzy as it was before the treatment.
Wendy, where did you get the treatment done? Do you have the salon name and number? Thanks

For everyone out there considering the Peter Coppola Keratin Treatment or any other Thermal reconditioning service; please remember that the stylist/therapist that you choose to perform the service should be able to address your own personal needs/concerns with your hair. I commend all of you for researching all the potential services available to you. But please make sure that whomever you choose to perform them for you is extremely knowledgeable and capable of addressing your individual hair needs. Certain procedures were developed to control frizz and others were developed to address curl. There is a tremendous difference. And less is not always more when it comes to what you're paying and getting for, for your money. Again I will reiterate that with the Coppola as well as any other Thermal reconditioning service it is not the actual procedure of performing the service that's critical, it's actually the consultation and understanding and addressing each individual's hair needs and concerns. For everyone out there who values their hair, the condition, and health of it; don’t’ always look to the person who is the least expensive who's willing to come to your house. If they are incredibly talented and knowledgeable they wouldn't be driving around and performing these services in someone's house. They would be in a salon where they are supported by people who are just as credible as they are with their knowledge and talent. Any type of service like this that requires experience and expertise, as well as knowledge and passion for the craft, is not performed by a travelling hairdresser looking for clients because their price is the lowest. Remember that please. Do your research and spend your time and money where you feel like you are getting the most for it. Got to someone who will educate you about your hair and how to not only take care of it from here on out, but someone who will take the time to teach you about all the things that you are doing to contribute to frizzy hair. Make sure that you are able to maximize the life of your service and ask the right questions to expect more of your hairdressers.

Good luck to everyone.

Hi Sandy,
I could not have said it better myself. I agree with you completely.
This is very valuable advice that clients should follow.
Thanks for taking the time to post this information. Hopefully people will read it and follow your advice.
There would be fewer problems if they did.

My name is Diane and I am a color specialist/stylist at The Debra Ordway Salon in the Trump International Hotel in Sunny Isles. I'm proud to say we offer the Keraqtin Comples Hair Therapy and it is absolutely fabulous and it truely leaves your hair in better condition. Also, it's excellent to do after a color treatment because it locks in the haircolor and replaces the keratin. Highly recommend this process over any other!

I just had the Coppola Keratin done and I LOVE IT. My hair is bouncy and my usually tight and unruly curls are loose and actually pretty!
I washed after 65.5 hours as I could NOT go to work with my hair ironed straight. I looked like Anton Chirguh in No Country for Old Men. Seriously.
I was surprised that I still have some residual frizz, though. WAY less than usual, but still. I figure that I'll just use some gel to hold it all together...I have a lot of breakage that doesn't want to do anything but poke out of my head.
Questions
Does wetting the hair and putting conditioner on have the same effect as washing? In terms of the keratin 'washing' out?
Do you think one should keep the hair dry when in a pool or in the ocean?
