I was on the beach at 59th street and the search helicopter was searching up to 65th street.

This evening (9pm) I saw a helicopter still searching as far as 59th street.

I saw it all happen right in front of me there was two people in trouble a life guard got to one when the other went down. A helicopter that was covering a race and about 8 guards where searching within minutes. In total I would say about 25 ground people 2 boats and three different helicopters(the one covering the race, MD state police, Coast Guard) helped search. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family

My friends and I witnessed the whole thing as well. At one point, we counted 10 different rescuers in the water, all diving down under the surface in search of the missing swimmer. We watched a black helicopter come circle the area, and what appeared to be a Coast Guard rescue boat came too. Neither stayed for very long. Pretty much everyone on the beach was watching the whole thing, and just about everyone came out of the water. We left to head back home wondering what the outcome was, though we figured that, if we watched the search for 30 minutes, the outcome was likely not good. I could only imagine how his family must feel, and my thoughts and prayers are with them.

We watched as the coast guard helicopter and the helicopter covering the boat race search for the missing swimmer. I was a little disturbed that the boat race continued so close to where the missing swimmer was last seen. I thought they would at least expand the race outward during the search and rescue/recovery was going on.

My family and I were on the beach at 2nd St. In a 2 hour span we saw 6 people rescued by lifeguards. They really had their work cut out for them on Sunday. Out of the 6 rescued 2 of them were children about 10-13 years of age. The scary part is, their parents never even knew they were being rescued. When the lifeguards brought them in, it took the children about 5 minutes to find where their family was sitting.

It was surreal, we were called over by our lifeguard for a short lesson in not diving into the shallow water an how to survive a rip tide. Suddenly he gets a call on his radio, he dashed to help rescue the three boys. Thus started an unbelievable chain of events. The lifeguards searching, diving up and down in the water, then lined up searching north and south in a line for hours. The race helicopter, the coast guard helicopter, the md state police helicopter, the coast guard boat searching for hours. The minutes turned to hours and I couldn't shake this sad feeling that somewhere a few yards away a family enjoying the beach on Father's Day had just witnessed an unbearable loss. You never know when will be the last time you will see someone. Every second is precious. Dear God surround this family with your loving arms.

I was there this weekend (I am from Long Island) and was stay at the Sea Scape and was on the beach most of the day Sunday and noticed all the boat races, with the boats followed with the helicopters and how loud all this was. Then at night futher down saw the bulldozer trying to get a boat out of the water and then the helicopter searching at night. Was the drowing and boat races related? Very sad story someone is missing.

This is a very sad thing I was at ocean city on this day as well I am from West Virginia and we just wanted to go and have a noce vaction.. on Sunday we were out on the beach for maybe 1/2 hour but it we too hot for us so we all just walked down the boardwalk.... but while we were on the beach we saw the helicopters were for the race and didn't think much of it.... as we were walking we saw that the helicopter was orange and something was wrong.. a little futher we seen the safety boat... I was confused cause I was seeing the boat up on shore and then the rescue poeple... I have a 18 month old and I am so happy I did not take him along with me to Ocean City with me... THANK YOU GOD... GOD BLESS THOSE WHO LOST A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON TO THEM....

The body has not been found yet. It will probably move north and surface on Wednesday. In the cold water, it will probably take about three days to surface.
