Shooting the dog is definitely wrong..
But i can relate
A few years ago before I moved out of Broward I had these stupid neighbors that would lock their dachshund dog on the side of their house where they had no windows, which bordered my property where my bedroom was. The dog, at 7am on saturday and sunday mornings, would bark continuously at anything from lizards, to leavings blowing in the street, to birds, to cars passing...
Its enough to drive someone crazy..
the fact that the owner of the dogs leaves them locked outside for hours while he is gone leads me to believe he truly couldnt have cared all that much about the dogs, or his neighbors, in the first place.

Do NOT let this guy have kids. Castrate him NOW. If he shoots a dog because of barking, wait until his kid starts screaming. Mark my words now: castrate him or he will go to prison for murder of his own child one day.

The dog was guilty of disturbing the peace. He should have called code enforcement and made a report, then the owner would have to keep the dog in the house.
Fact is, any person that names their dog 'Whiskey' probably has a list of problems besides just not being able to control his stupid dog.

The POS dog owner should be the one in jail; a person's right to peace & quiet trumps a useless animal's right to bark incessantly obviously driving this poor guy to do what he did. I know, I know, sister rose, the animal rights nut job, believes rats have rights too -

hmmm, I gotta tell ya, I have been thinking of it too. There is a dog that barks all day and all night - nonstop !! The owners refuse to keep the dog inside, or do anything to keep it quiet.
Lucky for me, I rent, so I am in the process of terminating my lease for dimished quality of life. I still have to spend money on the move.
Note to dog owners: Please think of your neighbors when you leave your dogs outside !!

This story breaks my heart. I think the guy deserves to be arrested, and he's a piece of dog SH-T for shooting the boxer. I mean, please. If a barking dog is going to upset someone so much that he is going to lose his temper and shoot a dog, then please lock him up. Clearly, I don't have all of the facts from this article. But here's my question: Was it the owner who deserved "to be shot" for keeping a barking dog outside while he barked uncontrollably? I am not speaking literally, of course. But I am sick and tired of thoughtless, selfish dog owners who allow their dogs to bark up a storm. As I said, I don't have all of the facts, and I'm NOT excusing what this sick, stupid bastard did to that poor animal. But I recently moved from an apartment (after breaking my lease and losing my deposit and losing my last month's rent) because of a thoughtless, selfish tenant with three barking dogs, as well as a landlord who REFUSED to do anything about it, despite repeated, documented complaints. Truthfully, there were times, especially when the barking woke me up between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., when I fantasized about shooting the owner, not the dogs. I have a dog who if left outside alone for more than 30 seconds would bark his bloody head off. So have I ever left him alone in a yard for more than 30 seconds? NEVER. I walk him, I run him, and take him to the park, and I NEVER leave him outside so that he can bark. I still feel very sorry for this dog, and I still think the alleged shooter needs to be locked up.

You should really read the article...it says that when he left the dogs were in the yard, and when he came home the dog was dead in his bed...so obviously they had access to the house and were not locked out in the yard...I'm sure the dog doesn't keep a set of keys in his pocket. So this does not compare with your irresponsible neighbors who actually kept their dachsunds out in the yard without access to the house during the day. Read....

Dan From Boston wrote: The guy deserves man of the year. Having lived next to trashy neighbors in the past who don't give a s/h/i/t/ that there barking dog kept me up most nights. You have a right to have a dog. I have a right not to have to listen to it. My solution, called the animal rescue league when the dog ( pit bull of course ) was loose in the back yard, they came and got it and put it to sleep after endless complaints from all of the normal neighbors. Problem solved and I sleep well now :) That's horrible. Why did they have to put the dog down? Because it was barking? I understand how incredibly annoying that is, but it's not the dog's fault. It's always the poor, innocent animal that suffers because of the neglect of the owners. I also agree with Lab-Rat who said anyone who names his dog "Whiskey" is probably an idiot to begin with. Morons who let their dogs bark night and day need to be tarred and feathered. They don't deserve to have animals.

I agree with wake up. I too after numerous complaints have gotten no where. I still get woken up in he middle of the night. I have even had a verbal confrontation with the dogs owner to no avail they don't care about anyone but themselves. It is sad to say but when my perforamnce at my job suffers my quality of work suffers and the authorities feel they really cant do anything because they have not witnessed it. They are no other neihgbors to back my claim. So when I loose my job because I fall asleep at my desk. What do I feed my kids then. I'm sorry I love animals but I love my family more. walk a mile in my shoes what would you do.
