I don't know if it just dumb people or dumb and foreign people. But why must these idiots turn on their flashers once it starts to sprinkle let alone rain? Are they saying "look at ME"?

We can see you without the stupid flashers. Just turn your lights on and stay in the right lane moron! If you feel your in dander of the rain or other drivers GET OFF THE ROAD then put your flashers on.

People turn the flashers on because its a courtesy and it helps them from being rear ended. I drive some 20k a year for work(rear-ended 3 times in 10 yrs)and I can tell you when it pours in South Florida it pours. If you never have been in a rainstorm where you could barely make out the car in front of you then you don't drive much. I can tell you truckers, police, and fire depts use the flashers when the summer tropical storm conditions hit. Be safe and use flashers when you can barely see in front of you. The reporter doesn't know what he is talking about.

It's illegal to drive with your flashers on in the rain you moron. If you wnat to be courteous learn the traffic laws and use them.

Yes, it is illegal to drive with your flashers on. Why? Because then you can't tell when your turn signals are on! If you can't see in the rain, then slow the hell down and pull the hell off the road!

And interesting advice here - turn your front and rear lights on? Are there cars out there where the head lights and the tail lights function on different knobs?

Best assist for maximizing vision in those Florida downpours is regular application of a windshield tratment like "Rain-X" or similar product. The water rolls up and over the windshield and allows better vision than using your wipers without such treatment. If I'm lyin', I'm dyin'...

Rain-X is an excellent product. Thanks for reminding me, I'm going to redo the wife's car and my own later. After the fourth cup of coffee...

I agree with the above posts about the severity of downpours in SoFlo. If people would simply turn on their lights when this occurs, it would help all other drivers in making safer judgements while driving.

Many vehicles are now equipped with a light setting that enables the car to automatically turn on the lights when there isn't a sufficient light source. We simply turn that setting on by default when driving either car. No worries...

I've tried this product Rain-x and my window fogged up all the time, my neighbor had the same problem. Getting this stuff off is almost impossible. I finally got it off with gas.

Traffic would improve in South Florida greatly if drivers would just learn these three things:

Turn on your lights in the rain!

Use your turn indicators!

That red and white triangular thing means "yield to oncoming traffic!"

I don't give a crap what the law might state. During a heavy summer downpour, I can see the rear end of a car sooner if the emergency flashers are blinking. It's the same as tapping on your brakes...extra bright. Common sense when you've got an impatient jerkoff on your butt in a rainstorm.

Cars in Florida should all be equipped with fog lights. I drive a Volvo that comes with these. You can't miss that bright RED fog light in the back. And YES it is illegal to turn on your emergency flashers in the rain and still keep on driving

If you put enough Rain-x on and leave it on long enough, nothing will be able to remove it, and you have to replace the glass. This is a worthless product and ought to be banned.

THE LAST BIG RAIN WE HAD I HAD TO TELL SOME MORON TO TURN HER LIGHTS ON AND SHE GAVE ME A DIRTY LOOK. I WAS JUST TRYING TO SAVE HER MISERABLE LIFE.

WHY DON'T PEOPLE KNOW THE SIMPLIST BASIC RULES OF DRIVING HERE IN SOUTH FLORIDA?

TURN YOUR LIGHTS ON IN THE RAIN AND (LEAVE FOLLOWING DISTANCE) ONE CAR PER TEN MILES PER HOUR) DON'T TAILGATE!!!! I'M SO SICK OF PEOPLE RIDING IN MY TRUNK!!!!!!!!!!

PEOPLE HERE IN SOUTH FLORIDA THINK A BLINKER MEANS HURRY UP AND SPEED UP SO I CAN'T GET IN FRONT OF YOU. IT'S A WARNING FOR THE OTHER CAR TO SPEED UP SO YOU CAN'T GET INTO THE LANE YOU NEED TO GET INTO.

THE PROBLEM IS IS YOU PULL OFF THE ROAD, SOME A-HOLE IS BOUND TO SLIDE OFF THE ROAD AND RUN INTO YOU.

I DRIVE WITH MY FLASHERS ON ALL THE TIME IN A HEAVY DOWNPOUR. I'VE EVEN SEEN THE STATE TROOPERS ON I-95 WITH THEIR FLASHERS ON WHEN A HURRICANE WAS APPROACHING AND THE RAINS WERE TORRENTIAL.(JUST IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, THAT MEANS A LOT OF RAIN)

Your full of crap pal. Flashers blind everybody else on the road when its raining. Its the worst thing to do! The flashing tends to produce a glare on the windsheilds that is so distracting you can't properly see the other cars driving in your near vicinity. The heavier the rain the worst the blinding condition.

Thats why he is on your tail, your flashers are doing nothing but pissing off the other drivers. Its against the law to drive with them on, unless your in an emergency vehicle.

While it is "better than nothing" to have your head lamps and tail lamps on, putting on you flashers will double or triple you visibility. Try this experiment. If you are having trouble seeing the vehicles ahead of you, turn on your flasher and see how many behind you do the same. Common sense is contagious.
