Fender bender ends in Oakland Park shooting death

Only an idiot attacks another driver and gets shot over a scratch on his car.

you can't blame the driver of the chrysler for showing his true colors. he did live in Lauderdale lakes, and we all know the mentality level of the people living there. They have to protect their ' STUFF " , you know, the things they buy with the welfare money we give them for doing NOTHING.

Although the entire details haven't been given out, it sounds like to me that the Haitian guy lost his temper, beat the guy in the van. When the guy retreats to his van, the Haitian guy still runs after him to give him more of a beating. Well, this is America, you are allowed to defend yourself from violent attacks. I think the driver of the white van acted appropriately and this should be a lesson for all you idiot drivers. BANG BANG

All Florida licensed drivers must be required to carry a fully loaded handgun at all times in their vehicles. This will prevent road rage. Not the fact that a lot of people are terrible drivers and law enforcement does next to nothing to get them off the roads...

Figueroa, Is not Haitian. The guy was Hispanic. I was there, I saw the whole event from start to finish.
The Hispanic guy wouldn't let off of the white guy.
The white guy went to get into his van to escape the attack of the Hispanic law abiding gentleman. The Law abid.. Hisp.. Gent...then went into the van after the white attack victim.
The victim then got out of his van
( his safe zone )and ran around the van to escape the continued attack, when the H.L.A.G. didn't stop attacking the white victim he broke away for a second opened his passenger side door reached for his only hope,, his only help,,his weapon and then defended himself as justifiably needed.
It happened in about 60 seconds, no one had time to intervene and I'm sure did not think it was going to escalate to the level it did.
I don't know what was said between the two that might started the altercation, but dumb decisions will lead to bad results.
Put ALL the RUMORS to rest.

I'm still struggling with the fact I didn't do more to help, and still can't believe anyone else didn't either.

I may be blonde, canadian and a girl, but I'm not stupid. I'm pretty sure that causing death isn't an appropriate response to an argument over a minor traffic incident.

Anytime you get into any kind of auto-crunch, you're adrenalin kicks in and you get over excited (flee or fight response). That's human nature; physiologic response.

So what if they disagreed and argued. Every argument between humans will involve one stronger party. Every argument is "threatening".

People argue over car crashes EVERY FREAKING DAY a MILLION TIMES in a MILLION PLACES without necessitating an execution. They GET OVER IT.

When people think they have a secret advantage, they are more inclined to provoke or escalate an argument. Couple that with the adrenalin rush of a car crash and you have all the makings of unnecessary violence.

Should every argument end in a death due to the convenience offered by a handy firearm? If you think so, that's SICK and SAD.

Flame me now you sick savages.

Question: if Thompson was convicted of cocaine, twice, that means he is a convicted felon. Why does a convicted felon have a weapon?

Maybe the dead guy was a decent guy. All the fools wisecracking here don't know. Maybe he was a major idiot that deserved what he got. The fact that is aparent is he lost control, which is easy for anyone to do in Florida traffic. If anyone that is posting here can actually drive, then they would know they felt "roadrage" before. Too bad it cost this guy his life, too bad Thompson is left with having to kill in self defense, because it will haunt him if he is normal, cost him big time even if the shooting was legal. Condolences to the family of the dead guy.
