Lady, you do have a demise but we as American citizens have a greater one. What I see in your post is poor, poor, poor me and not ONE word to what this invasion has done to legal citizens.
As for "but don't assume every single hispanic you see on a truck or doing landscaping is illegal. Because I can guarantee you they aren't...."
No, you can not. There is no way you can guarantee this, no way. Lady, we are invaded, don't you get it. If your husband is here legally, why aren't you outraged? If he went through all the proper channels, why aren't you outraged? If both of you donot live off of tax payers dollars and pay taxes, why aren't you outraged?
This is why I find your post so confusing, you say legally but support illegality.
I don't support illegality. My husband has worked very hard for what he has and what he has given myself and our family. And what I am outraged about is every one who wants to assume all hispanics are illegal. I am not saying poor me because I am one of the riches women in the world. And it is not earthly riches I am talking about. I am just tired of the constant harrassment my husband goes through because of his appearance. And you just don't get it.

So you are saying that you are going to walk up to every Hispanic you see and grill them about their legal status before you call and turn them in. Yeah right...
And I know about the time and expense associated with dealing with immigration services. My husband is Hispanic and we have dealt with immigration for the last 10 years. And his status still isn't straightened out due to an attorney we hired 10 years ago that stole our money and messed up his status.
I am not sure you are telling the whole story, the part about an attorney that "stole" your money, and "messed up his status". I think what you are saying is that you paid an attorney, with the expectation that in return your husband would be declared "legal", and the attorney wasn't able to make it happen. You are saying that his status is still not straightened out. I conclude that your husband is "illegal". Since the attorney was not able to get everything worked out, your husband was supposed to return to Mexico, but he didn't want to leave you and didn't want to go back, and you didn't want to go to Mexico. It sounds like he started out "legal", but that status has expired, and you are now on the run. You say your husband is a hard worker. No one questions that. A lot of "illegal aliens" are hard workers. They are still breaking the law which makes them criminal. I suggest that you take your husband back to Mexico, and start all over and see if he can do it right this time. And, am I right, your husband loads up in the back end of a truck to go to work every day, and you "guarantee" that all of them are legal. I am not believing any of this.

My husbands papers got messed up when we hired an attorney who wasn't really an attorney he took our money and we waited and waited as we were told to by this non-attorney. We waited for 2 years all the time being told it takes a long time to change someone's status. In the mean time we had an appointment in Chicago the non-attorney never told us about so me missed it and his original status was canceled. So we have fought for the last 8 years to have his status reinstated. We have done every thing legally. Just as we are supposed to. As soon as we found out the attorney we hired was a fraud we filed charges in Indiana against him. My husband came here 19 years ago legally on polital asylum. After we were married we tried to change his status. That is when his status was messed up. He is here legally he just doesn't have to correct status. And I never said my husband loads up in the back end of a truck to go to work. What I said was in reply to someone else who stated all mexicans riding in the back of trucks were illegals. I said that could be my husband in that truck and I guarantee not every hispanic you see is illegal. And as I stated he is not illegal. His status is messed up. And he isn't Mexican he is from Central America.

Just what exactly is your husband's status. You are either legal or you are not. You either have a green card or you don't. There is not some in-between status. Your words,"messed up" means the same thing as "He doesn't have current, up-to-date papers." What you are saying is about like saying, "My driver's license is messed up." That means you don't have a driver's license. And, what is this "political asylum" thing? That is also another way of saying, "I am on the run." I am sorry for what you all are going thru, but it sounds like you all are in a real mess, by being on the run in both countries. If you are not on the run you should be willing to let the US Immigration Service assess your situation and decide what to do with you.

The ultra rich do not care if the illegals wipe out the middle class ( whats left of it )
We need to toss out everyone in office now and start the country all over again.
Place the army on the border and anyone found that hires illegals send them packing out of the country too, also lets build all own stuff like we used too and be a closed off country.

I don't know if anyone in a position of authority gives a hoot at this point. The crisis isn't perceived to be bad enough yet to get on a front burner. I am amazed at the number of billboards in this town that not only include a Spanish translation but also a Bosnian translation. As a senior with minimal means, I use the free clinic for medical care. The place has numerous Spanish and Bosnian translators. How about a senior advocate for folks who worked all of their lives and an illness wiped them out? Please don't recomend DSS. They are a joke
