Dear Miss Piggy, The Ordnance Officer, at Geralds auto parts on East Main street, Oak Hill, there seems to be a ORANGE van with no motor in it and U Haul written all over it, that is parked there solely for the purpose of advertisement, which is against city code not to mention that it is parked on a public sidewalk also against city and state code. Now I do realize that because the bright Orange color blends in with the colors of the sidewalks, pavement and buildings that it is hard to spot even though it is parked right in the middle of the damn sidewalk... I do however wonder, if Miss Piggy will do the right thing and tow it or simply go in and ask it to be moved. In my honest opinion if she had any balls at all she would tow it without any further waning. Women want to be respected as officers but, when they just follow all the male officers and do nothing because that's what the male officers do...n one can respect that

What about that A&B junkyard across from Little Ceasars, Prudence Auto Junkyard and Oak Hill Wreck of a business. You only get singled out if you are not a business.

the cops around here dont care about nothing but if you put up a sign that says yard sale you better have a permit or they will come and tell you to shut down or get a permit

Ok one more time Mr. Shelton,/ Mr. Mess, the van is on walkway that belongs to Gerald’s Auto, you cant build a building but so close to the road so 60 years ago when Gerald build it he put in the walkway not the city, and there is still 5-6 feet of room from van to road more than there is at any spot where there is a trash can or power pole, and just where are you going to go from that point? There is no side walk before or after that.

Sorry did not make my point clear enough, there is 10-12 feet from building to road the van is only a few inches from the building, if you go by and look (as I did) the Exxon sign, car wash sign and even the hand rail coming out of the store next to the van sticks out farther than the van. The space that the van is in is store front property if they wanted to they could move the van build a step up going into the store and put hand rails on it and that would stick out just as far.

Update.. just went by there again and its more like 12-14 feet from building to road with the van taking up about 6 feet and the van still has valid plates. And again when they ran parts the parts truck set there for years and years with out any problems.

Let me make this clear again, fanofthevan. According to Oak Hill City Law, No vehicle may be parked and used for the sole purpose of advertising. It is also on a Public not Private sidewalk and is also considered a junk vehicle since it has no engine and is not in running order. Also against city ordinance ...Look it up all city laws are posted on the internet. There is a double standard when it comes to law in Oak Hill. The law is scared of old man Hilderbrand

Went out town today, and that place across from Little Caesars is now using the old Lewis car lot like it belongs to them. They had a semi torn apart over there. As far as the van goes, it does not really bother me but it is considered a junk vehicle and should not be on main street. I bet if I parked a car out there with not motor, it would not last a day.

ACTUALLY, MrMess, if the vehicle is licensed and insured (whether in running condition or not) the city cannot make you move it unless it is in violation of some other law. If it were NOT licensed it would be covered under the JUNK city ordinance.
