Wondering wrote: <quoted text> What? How would this be possible? That would possible by either an illegal act commited by the chief or misapprotiation of funds. Shut means either that the shiriffs office took over or the state police. Then a investigation and guilty parties are either let to resign or are arrested.

CWSCOCB - Please educate yourself a little regarding Kentucky state law before you accuse a police officer of not getting arrested for something "solely because he is a police officer". I am the mother of the child that you so casually discussed earlier. I was responsible for my son that night. My husband was on duty helping to protect and serve the citizens of Oak Grove when our son died. I would have gladly went to jail. However, what happened was not against the law and was a tragic accident. As my husband said earlier, we live in a prison every day of our lives. We made a huge mistake by leaving a gun unsecure and we live with the consequences every second. We don't need you to remind us of that. I am asking you to please leave my family out of your disgust for the OGPD. If you are a mother, surely you have some sort of idea what it would be like to make a mistake and your child die because of it. Please do not make us re-live this horrible tragedy more than we already do. If you have any respect at all, you will let my son rest in peace. Below I have provided the Kentucky state law for the storage of firearms. With that said, I think it needs to be changed and that citizens of all states should be required to secure firearms. I am providing this information with the hope that you will leave my family alone and that all families will secure their firearms. Child Access Prevention Kentucky does not impose criminal liability for negligent storage of a firearm, even if a child gains access to the firearm and causes an injury or death. Kentucky prohibits any person from intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly providing a handgun to a person under age 18 or permitting a person under age 18 to possess a handgun, except in the limited situations where it is legal for the person under 18 to possess a handgun.63 In addition, it is unlawful for the parent or legal guardian of a juvenile to provide a juvenile with a handgun or permit a juvenile to possess a handgun if the parent or guardian: Knows that there is a substantial risk that the juvenile will use a handgun to commit a felony offense; Knows that the juvenile has been convicted of a crime of violence; or Knows the juvenile has been adjudicated a public offender of an offense which would constitute a crime of violence.64 See Regulating Guns in America: Child Access Prevention for a comprehensive discussion of this issue. http://www.lcav.org/states/kentucky.asp#Child...

brian byrnes wrote: The fact you are even answering on this doesn't look good. If you are cleared then you are cleared. Brian, if you did not say anything about our family and the tragedy we have suffered, then I am sorry that we assumed that you said it. However, your comment above is not very fair. You just defended yourself against a personal attack on a public forum, just as my husband did. Personally, I think all of this mud slinging on this forum is childish. Surely there is something good that can be said about the city of Oak Grove. If people don't like the city then they should consider moving or help do something to improve it. Hopefully all the personal attacks are done and we can all move on now.

Tlt, I was not trying to personally attack your family in any way. And I am sorry if you thaught that I was. I understand how hard the loss of any childs life is let alone your own. My point was that the pd gets away with too much here and something should be done. I did not want to use the name of your husband nor yours. Nor your sons. Honestly if this town can be helped the crooked cops have to go. That was my point I only used the situation as an example. My intention was not to hurt you.

Thank you Brian and cwscocb. However, I ask that you please do not use my husband or our tragedy as an example in any issues you may have against the OGPD. Although he has suffered a loss that many will never understand, he has continued to serve the city of Oak Grove and it's citizens. He is a good man and a good police officer. Lets all move on to more positive things now. I wish you both a good rest of the weekend.

you do and you dont have to worry about the police in this town. they dont know their job so they cant actually give you the proper charge. but they will make one up if they dont like you. if your a juvenile you seriously are ok. just due to the fact according to most of the officers they cant charge a juvenile. the chief is crooked and is currently allowing an out of state police dept violate the law. the animal control officer is a joke and makes it up as she goes. but if you are looking for a town with the good ole boy system in full effect then you have found it.
