Anything you want to talk about that's not already being discussed on another thread? Then here's the place to do it!

We can discuss anything from the upcoming mayoral election, current events, restaurants, and even those nasty weeds that keep popping up in our lawns (what are they???).

Anyone have anything to start it off?

I'm glad they think their comments bother me, but I could care less. It only shows their immaturity.

Yup, Stick and Stones ...... The only reason they dis like the police is because they are the ones the police keep busting. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime!

The Cops are horrible here. I was once pulled over for going 3mph over the speed limit. After he walked to the car he told me my car smelled like weed. I have never even tried marijuana. I told him this and he proceeded to have me get out of the car and check every inch of the car until he finally realized he wasn't finding anything he checked me, to which I heard is illegal (I am a female) and my purse. After all this he still gave me a ticket for speeding.

Unfortunately, with all of the kids here doing drugs, every teen is under suspicion. My son and his friends have gotten stopped and the same 'smells like weed comment' was made, but he just looked inside the car thru the window. Once they establish a reason to search the car (the smells like weed comment is enough to do that) you give your permission, but you tell him that you want to watch the search. This of course is if you don't have anything in the car. If you do, I'm assuming you call your lawyer!

You say you were searched. Does that mean he put his hands on you? You have every right to tell him that you do not want him to touch you,(I'm assuming he asked) and that you would rather go to the police station and have a female officer search you. At this point he'll either have you follow him there, or he will let you go since you didn't have anything in the car.

Like I said, unfortunately every teen or 20 something is under suspicion since drugs are so rampant in the south suburbs and everywhere. As for him giving you a ticket for 3 miles over the limit, that just sucked! I would have gone to the captain and asked what that was all about!

There are some very nice police officers here. And there are some (ahem) not so nice. Seems like you got one of the not so nice.

I shouldn't have said that all the kids are doing drugs, but alot are.

Sounds like you need a babysitter and a date. Or you just looking to screw someone over. If I was a woman and saw your post, I would look the other way, if you truly need help, Oak Forest has a lot of church's that reach out to folks who are down on their luck. Good Luck!

Perhaps the teens complaining of being stopped for no reason, should put pressure on the teens giving a bad reputation to this age group to stop the vandalism and hanging out and defacing other property. Someone knows something and should start telling. Its not tattling. Its called doing what is right.

School is starting soon.

I am not very fond of the way Mayor Kelly conducts her actions. She has taken away the agenda packet & verbatim minutes to the residents.... You won't know what resolutions or appointment are being made because she has listed them under the "consent calender", in which she approves the consent calender but skips right over the details.... at the counil meeting I asked at citizen participation, what was item G. in the consent calender, that was just approved in the meeting... she would not tell me...Check out this site...to see more & download the meeting to listen for yourself.

Karen, the more you read about Mayor Kelly, The less you like her as a Mayor.I feel sorry for the next Mayor because they have to fix all the other Mayors screw ups.

When someone holds something back from the public it makes a person feel like they are up to no good. Why is it that Oak Forest has no major businesses like CW to the North or Orland to the west?

We have enough bars and enough gas stations and enough places to eat. But one thing for sure is you can't buy a suit or any other clothing for that matter. Hell, I can't even buy a pair of shoes in Oak Forest. Whats up with that?
