Tam Valley residents seek to slow down drivers

Since this discussion a lot has happened. The Tennessee Ave crosswalk is working as well as can be expected. Cars slowed for a while even though a month later a horrific bicycle accident occurred. Claire Deipenbrock was hit by two cars while riding west on Shoreline.

The road does not have a bike lane or shoulder on one side so there is no room for cyclists if drivers don't slow down and wait to go around.

We need a bike lane on the west bound side of the road.

Caltrans is getting sued and will probably get sued again. I would like to think if the CHP can't justify lowering the speed limit that at least Caltrans could move the strip over to allow for a bike lane. Money could go to fixing the road instead paying for lawsuits.

There is 14 feet of space on one side and nothing on the other.

Is anyone up for a discussion about that?

The new crosswalk at Gibson and Flamingo is a huge improvement!! YEA Caltrans!
The stripe on Shoreline in front of the Arco is a help too but there are still clumps of asphalt that people use as sidewalks to keep out of the road. The whole intersection is in need of an overhaul to meet modern standards that allow people to walk and bike around.
Hope all this is being studied as planned for funding.
