St. John said he was hypothermic to the point of uncontrolled shivering and was "very much in need of rescue."
"He was able to walk out with the assistance of the team."
Am I missing something here...?

this guy is stupid, the trails are all well marked and its almost impossible to get lost up there unless you wonder off the trails...and he didn't bring his sweatshirt and cell cause the thought he wouldn't need them!?!?!..its a wet forest and its also winter..any one with common sense would KNOW to bring a sweatshirt or jacket, and depending on what time he started the hike, he should have had a headlamp or flashlight, this man was unprepared and made some very unintelligent choices, its stupid to go into the forest alone..ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE! this man should NEVER be allowed out of his home without supervision.

Guy, You are a ding-a-ling. Don't run a unfamilair trail in the late afternoon in bad weather. Sound good? Thank you and have a happy new year.

Lets give this guy a break. The world is full of idiots and idiots is a relative term as we are all idiots at some time. I'm an idiot for posting this. Let's practice compassion for the idiot.

I'm glad he's okay but he should be billed for being negligent. If you want to go into the wilderness, expect to pay for the rescue. Especially if you can;t be bothered to learn the terrain, carry a cell phone, gps, whatever. And it's not even remote wilderness. Taxpayers can ill afford to continually subsidize rescuing careless people.

"Stark told rescuers that a shelter he'd built next to the trail worked well during the first splash of rain but not so later on. Along with the cloudbursts, thunder and lightning, Stark said he was spooked by thoughts of unwanted visitors."
Lay off the meth. what a nitwit.
