In the July 26 John Reilly's Hour column, Mayor Moccia was quoted as saying; "a bankrupt party held in a bankrupt facility", referring to the Silver Star Diner. The Silver Star Diner has been a place which plays no favorites, always allowing candidates from all parties to display their campaign signs. Mayor Moccia has consistently asked for support from the Silver Star Diner over the years, as evidenced by the many signs placed there during election times. Is this how a Norwalk family-owned business, handed down from a previous generation is treated? Without respect, without dignity, without compassion, and especially during these hard economic times? A mayor who truly cares about the private and business community does not kick a citizen or local business owner during these hard economic times. This is a slap in the face to everyone in the community.
The Mayor has to reach out to lend a helping hand, or even show some compassion. Not by making insensitive comments publicly, proving to us that he really only cares about himself. According to Mayor Moccia, he has provided 'responsible leadership' and is now the 'people's choice'. He has not offered responsive leadership, and how could he possibly be the 'people's choice' when he treats us and the people of Norwalk with such disregard. I have in the past always gone and ate there. Now that I have read this you will see me at least once if not twice a week.Your Diner has always been a 5 star visit. We can all understand whats it like to be insulted by Mayor Moccia he does it to everyone who isn't on board. He has distorted numbers given false impressions based on inacurate date given to him many times in the past.He shoots his mouth off and never offers anything but a verbal fight.

Never liked the guy has a habit of insulting and shouting down his opposition. His way or the highway, how can Norwalk survive with him another two years will be interesting to see.He is not getting anything from the state like he used to even Rell is on to him.Takes grants never matches them then the city is standing there wondering why they don't have anything to show for the years end.

NORWALK By CHASE WRIGHT Hour Staff Writer Police are searching for suspects in a Sunday afternoon shooting that occurred near a busy intersection in South Norwalk during broad daylight. At approximately 12:54 p.m., officers responded to the corner of Bouton Street and Windsor Place on a report of shots fired, said Sgt. James Boff, of the Norwalk Police Department. Officers spotted a man lying on the ground, bleeding from a bullet wound to the arm, he said. The man was taken to Norwalk Hospital and his injuries were not considered life threatening, Boff said. Nursing supervisor Donna Lavelle confirmed the victim was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. While the victim said he did not see where the shot came from, and gave no motive behind the shooting, Boff refrained from calling the man "an innocent bystander." The victim has not been fully cooperative in the investigation, he said. "Because it's so early in our investigation, I wouldn't want to say this guy was an innocent bystander," Boff said. City and law enforcement officials said the violent incident that occurred in the afternoon hours was cause for concern, but not because of the timing. "Any time we have a shooting it's a concern," said Mayor Richard Moccia. "We're concerned regardless of whether the incident occurs during the day or night." Moccia went on to say that as an urban center, Norwalk is sometimes victimized by violent crime, shootings and gang activity. "Shootings happen in an urban center," Moccia said. "That's not an excuse, but it's something we have to deal with." |
