This is a frivolous, nonsensical lawsuit, and the plaintiff should face charges for abuse of process. But in reality, knowing American courts, she will probably win the $100 and an additional $75,000 or so for "other damages."

Why are so many people dirty and nasty and do not clean up after their dogs???? She has a right to sue and should have sued for more. hat has this world coming to where people with dogs want everyone else to be nasty like they are. Amen to that. I'm atheist btw. Just reinforcing, who would want to live in a neighbourhood with crap everywhere?

Anyone that says she deserves it should let me get X$ for having swerved my car for avoiding animals others have killed. Try to differentiate the responsibility of that from a 3rd party letting an animal crap on a step. Someone else kills an animal, someone else lets it crap on the step. Family outing was "ruined" while I endangered my life. I think I'd have just as much of a crap case has she has.(catch the pun?) Too bad this is a publicity case as it stands,probably will be thrown out for it's lack of ANY grounds to sue the city. Sue your neighbors cuz their dog left a mess in their own yard and sue them for it then. It displeases me to see it... this is a joke.

It also seems many have twisted visions of the law. Sue the city for anthers actions.. so you sue an unrelated party just cause? A person hits you with their car you sue them and not the car manufacturer. A person burns down your house with matches they go to jail, not the match company. Your kid steps in dog crap you go after the owner at best, not the city that took no part in the action. Also.. why was a 1 year old walking and probably distant from that parent? She must not be very observant to let a 1 year old get more than 5ft away let alone walk into crap.. or just plain not see it. If the kid can do this then she'd probably have let them fall down an open sewer grate. I'd call this irresponsibility followed by ignorance.. with a dash of vengeance that is misguided.

The message to some after this joke is to go step into a pile then sue!........I will bring my own crap, thank you! They shouldn't go outside.

So 2 minutes of research says

"City attorney M. Jeffry Spahr said the official response is that her claim is denied and, in his words, "poop happens."

Kelly DeBrocky of Mahopac, N.Y., wants the city to reimburse her for $54 she spent replacing her toddler's ruined shoes and the expenses for parking and aquarium admission on April 5."

So the kid "ruined" both shoes... not just 1, so they apparently had a moment to dance in it. Then they want the admission and parking paid for no reason other then they can try to add more for kicks. I still want that money for a random event that made it so I deserved it on cuz I said so and the media let me cry so it just get it just cause.

To anyone that reads this, yes you just wasted 10 minutes of your life. For me it was more. I want that time back.

so are you. Dog poop does ruin your clothes with embarrassment on a day when your in a public park filled with lots of people and your there to participate in an event which makes you drop out to go home to change. One can collect sickness from a dog dropping that have worms, plus can cause other diseases in children playing in public parks. or a child just after learning how to walk gets taken to the park and while playing picks one up and starts eating it. Your saying, it's ok for a human to crap in the grass as well?

She is taking a good step to stop people from letting their pets crap on the pavements. Now govts may follow what is happeing in Singapore.
