NORWALK-Police responded to a near riot over the weekend involving about 300 Halloween-costumed revelers on Washington Street and at Webster Street parking lot in the heart of SoNo, police said.
Responding officers outside Club 77 on West Washington Street saw a crowd blocking the street and radioed for reinforcements before 23 on-duty and extra work officers and police dog Nomak showed up to restore order, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said.

Four men were arrested on charges including breach of peace and assault.

When police arrived at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday they saw a group of five men beating and kicking another man at the corner of Washington and Madison streets. Simultaneous disturbances occurred in front of the club and on a driveway leading from Washington Street to the Webster Street parking lot, Cotto said. Police observed Leroy Pressley, 21, of 19 Snowden St., Norwalk, stomping on the head of the man on the ground and Pressley was charged with third-degree assault.

After police broke up the fight, the 21-year-old assault victim stood up but then collapsed and was taken to the hospital with a gash over his right eye, bloody lip and cut head, Cotto said.

Police were first called to Club 77 that night when a man began pushing a security guard who would not let the man in because the club was too crowded, Cotto said.
