Dumont Ave shooting

Hey what's going on, they keep shooting the cars around Dumont ave. Near Mapledale / Dumont. Now they shot at a house. Guys keep hitting the wrong cars. I know they don't have computers to read this , but go away!!. Too many families and kids around. If you hear some thing call police don't wait for them to comeback. Take back your Neighborhood you lived here first.

You got that right. Pull the drapes, stay low and dial 911 when you hear shots. Call the sheriff's office if you see the guys around again. People report stuff that you know darn well is trouble waiting to happen. If sheriff's don't show then you have to start calling City Hall and the Watch Commander. NORWALK NEEDS MORE SHERIFF'S PATROLING AND LESS PUBLIC SAFETY FOLKS THAT SHUT DOWN AT 9PM. THINGS IN NORWALK ARE TOTALLY OUT OF HAND AND WE ALL HAVE TO STEP UP AND MAKE A CORRECTION OR LOSE OUR CITY TO THE CRIMINAL ELEMENT. REPORT TAGGING AND TAGGERS AND LET THE SHERIFF'S CONFRONT THEM AND ABOVE ALL ELSE KNOW WHO BELONGS TO YOUR STREET AND WHO DOES NOT. NORWALK NEEDS MORE SHERIFFS AND IF THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT THEN THEY NEED TO TAKE A NOTE FROM SANTA FE SPRINGS AND HIRE SOMEONE WHO WILL GET OFFICERS TO THE SITE OF TROUBLE IN LESS THAN 45 MIN. SORRY TO "YELL" BUT PEOPLE WE DON'T HAVE TO HAVE SHERIFFS WE COULD HAVE WHITTIER PD OR SOME OTHER CITIES ADJACENT PD UNDER CONTRACT. LOOK AT THE BUDGETS OF NWK AND SFS AND SEE THE AMOUNTS SPENT. SAME OLD USUAL DEALS DON'T ALWAYS WORK.

I live on the other side of dumont. i heard a police siren, then shots were fired. i also heard about the cars being shot out. I think its that side of the street. in the last 4 years, there have been 3 murders, and at least 3 drive by shootings. only on that stretch of dumont ave, i also think its the people whos cars are being shot. it seems like if its just a few houses, we should be able to have the city kick these people out. remove the targets so we can claim our streets back. Parents should also be keeping an eye on their kids.We always see the same kids wandering the streets and i dont think the parents even know where they are...breaking into empty houses to go swimming (that actually happened!)We have a neighborhood watch..but those "nosy" neighbors are too busy (or scared) to report anything!

i dont know whay the feed says i live in saint louis...i was born in Norwalk!

So who is going to take the first step? Who is going to go to City Hall? Contact the Sheriff and start the process. You can even call INS and have them investigate. I bet they are not even suppose to be here. I live not too far from that area.

It's sad to know that uneducated wannabe's have nothing better to do than bang around a neighbor hood. good and hard woking people live here. don't you have a mama would you want that around your home, what if she was hit or killed because of what you did to someone or because of the so called friends you hang with.. you have no idea how the varrio works ! karma What you do will come back too you. so grow up clowns !!

I live a few houses from the shooting. I'm fed up with this crap. Being part redneck, and a former soldier I feel for them if they get the wrong house. My second amendment rights are quite execised. And I will not hesitate to defend my neigborhood. Do not cower, get a gun and show these punks that we wont take it.

You have brought up an very interesting point about the City of Norwalk. They can have this going on and not do anything to act up on it. However, in the city of Norwalk, if you know the right people you can literally harrass the crap out of a neighbor by calling in bogus claims that porches are falling down, declaring that plants are weeds, and the law is too brown or too tall and they will send a property inspector out asap and they will threaten all sorts of things and crawl up someones behind. No joke. Know someone that lives by one of those a******* and the person uses the city as their little squad of revenge against neighbors of color as in other than lily white and/or people they just don't see eye to eye with. They boast how they will clear so and so out. Since this is something that the city does seem to want to respond to the folks on Dumont need to look over take down a house number and then call in issues about yards and vehicles parked in the driveway. The one used in our little area of hell is call up and claim the vehicle does not run and the city will write the ticket. Why the city does not take it upon themselves to clean up when there is shootings is beyond me but you can call in all sorts of crap over the phone and they will tell you that they have to go out and check the property. So folks on Dumont get out the phone and block your number and dial and dial often it seems to work for our neighborhood pest and it would be nice to see it work to oust a real problem instead of something stupid like a brown lawn. You kno what's really funny is that you RESIDENTS really have NO clue what goes on in the real world, where you complain about cops not responding and taking matters into ur own hands, so busy thinking that gangs are the problem, Not taking the the time to think that maybe things are happening for a reason, do you really think that houses get shot at for no reason? Don't get me wrong I don't condone this kind of activity nor do I think that things like this are happening just cause.*OUR STREETS*

Parents need to take care of thier kids so they dont become LOSERS who randomly shoot people!!!!!!!!!!

Write a letter to City Hall. Call the City Hall and tell them you want to report a building code violation on a residence. I doubt there is one house other than one just built that does not have building code violations. City will respond in hopes of generating dollars for building permits and fines. Know someone that lives North of Firestone/ Imperial cross that uses that same department to harrass neighbors that he can't stand. He calls they respond and he even knows (because he knows someone in Public Safety that can check) when the inspector is going to go out and he gets home early or goes to work late but is aways there on his porch to watch and or make sure they look things over and he will go out and put his so called "two cents" in effort to clean up the block. Norwalk falls for it time an time again so why not used the greed to serve a better purpose. Person at desk says if they get a complaint they must go out and inspect. I say put the inspectors to work. Aren't NWK people paying some crazy 6% in utility tax to pay for city government??? Make them earn it!

We are talking about kids who don't even know how far a bullet can go in distance if it does not strike something like a wall or a human being. One has to know that and actually care about where the bullet can go, let alone who it will hurt. These are people who don't care much for life. The don't seem to value their life or anyone's in particular. They get drunk or high on drugs and go out to be macho and use a gun. For some reason they don't think. If they are so hot to shoot folk they should sign up in the army and go to Iraq and work out the need to shoot people over there and fight for freedom.

We used to have Cal Cadets. There was a firing range at Norwalk High. They taught the students gun safety and they taught them about awareness of surrounding and background.

They taught the kids to shoot straight. The competed against other schools.

In those days you had physical education FIVE days a week and for FOUR years. We should bring back the full course in PE and California Cadet Corps.

No need to send the NLMUS District's "bad boys" off to Provo Utah costing over $50K a year each to "meet their unique educational needs," put them with a gunnery Sarg just back from Afganistan. And give them training.

Dear youngster from the PKS: I have lived in the PKS my entire life. More than likely, I am a decade or so older than you are. Perhaps we know one another by sight? I grew up with the first generation of parksiders...before the term 'Parkside' was coined.

I understand what you're saying, and I'm glad you have a computer.(-; I'm also grateful that you don't condone 'this kind of activity'. The 'Parkside' has suffered much loss over the years; particularly with the murder of my friend Roberto Trujillo (who was a civilian) and, more recently, with the passing of Jorge Avalos (who was not just a civilian).

The Parkside has been bathed in the prayers of Norwalk churches for a generation. Unfortunately, the current PKS leadership continues to hardened their hearts against the Good News of Salvation through Jesus Christ. As a result, they DO condone the activity that they engage in.

The shootings and suffering will continue until the Lord grants repentance (a changed mind) to the leadership and soldiers of the PKS. Perhaps you, youngster, can be a part of the transformation, and win over hearts and minds to a better path?
