Officials say snow and cold temperatures were contributing factors in the accident

How?

I wonder if they will test for drugs and alcohol?

Having had 3 children, I always knew where they all were before I put the car in gear. Always.

Regardless, my prayers go out to the family.

I can only speculate that maybe the girl was wearing a white winter coat and white snow pants - my daughter has these and with the white roads it might have difficult to see the child. That being said - I agree I always know where both of my kids are before I put the car in gear...

Well aren't you just a perfect human being? Kick the mother while she's down. Very helpful.

The little girl was walking with three other children. I'm willing to bet the other two children were not three year olds, maybe one was a bit older, maybe a bit more responsible. And if that's the case maybe, just maybe mom was comfortable in that her daughter was safe.

Or how about this the three children were walking home after sleding (again assuming the other two are older than three). When three year old saw mom get into car and went running towards car because she wanted to go with her. Mom not knowing the kids had returned from sleding had no reason to suspect her three year old was near by moved the car.

To start and assume that drug and alchol tests are needed in this case is a bit premature. Seeing that I've just presented two alternatives to this accident that don't involve drugs or alchol.

To set at a computer typing in some lame-brain theory without one shred of knowledge of this accident other than what you are reading is at best ridiculous and at worst an affront to this suffering family.
The bottom line is that a 3 year old child accidently died and sadly the mother was a contributing factor.
As a Grandparent and a parent I cannot imagine a worse tragedy that could strike a family.
How truly sad.

Jeff-T,
I agree with you on a lot of issues but dude that is cold. Sometimes an accident is just an accident. I also have two children and I know no matter how hard you try It only takes a spit second for a safe situation to turn in to a bad situation.
I'm sure this lady would switch places with here daughter in second. I can not imagine the pain and sorrow she is going through. I pray she will find peace in her heart someday.

Certainly I was not trying to be mean or cold toward this family and specifically this woman during a horrible time. I will not be applying for sainthood!

In addition, I also understand that "accidents happen". But does that mean we should not get all the facts before making a decision? If that makes me "bad" in anyones eyes, so be it.

Jeff your post did imply that the mother was irresponsible. You could have worded it a bit better.

That being said this is yet another case where a newspaper article doesn't give nearly enough information.

I understand your point, I just think in some cases we should give "the benefit of the doubt". Even if she wasn't careful and had a laps in common sense there is nothing that can be done to this woman that would be worse than what she is going through. Just my opinion.

Christmas will never be the same again for the Kampa family. My deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers go out for them. How sad a reminder for each of us to hold our children close and tell them we love them every day, because they can be gone in a moment. Rest in peace, little Faith.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Cancer

You feel the urge to move onward, powered by your wisdom: when you're right, you're right. You may feel that any further explanation is unnecessary, but the people you're dealing with might need it spelled out for them. Take the time to draw a picture or use smaller vocabulary words to get your point across, Cancer. A public demonstration will probably prove to be the last word on the subject.
