I agree. How does someone lose control like that? Either they were doing something they should not have been doing, or they should never have been given a drivers license. Also, taking the extra 3 seconds to put on a seat belt is well worth it. I was in an accident a few months back ( not my fault), and a seat belt was the difference between me surviving and me being a story in the paper.

Sounds like this one can't be blamed on anyone but the driver. Hope he makes a complete recovery. People will never learn that they are not playing with toys. So glad he didn't take another innocent, law-abiding driver down with him.

Gee, hasn't anyone ever heard of speed bumps??? Not all people die in a car wreck, many get to spend their lives in a wheel chair, numb from the neck down. I think its about time the City of Milford installs speed bumps on that road to discourage the teens from speeding there, that road is well known to the police for drag racing. I know because I work in the mall!

Pretty obvious that the car was going very fast. Cars don't flip at 25mph (likely the speed limit there) on flat ground, they definitely don't flip multiple times. Why did he lose control? Sudden flat tire, sliding on the dirt and salt left from snow removal, swerving to miss a unicorn? Could have been any of those. Speed bumps = jumps, sounds like fun. Driving is extremely dangerous yet no one seems to take it seriously. Never drive at the limit on public roads and always wear a seat belt.

Guarantee you'll see speed bumps, rotaries, new curves and probably red lights installed on that road in the spring. It's obviously a magnet for Fast and the Furious wannabes who need protection from themselves

Was the driver driving like an idiot? Probably. But seriously, how many of us at 18 like to explore the speed of our car. I know I did. And fortunately I never had a serious accident. I don't think speed bumps, rotaries, or traffic lights are the answer. Then young drivers will just find another place to drive fast. I think the answer is in the education of new drivers. I am in emergency services and sadly accidents like this are very common. Maybe teen drivers should be shown graphic pictures of the victims in fatal or near fatal accidents as a part of their drivers ed classes. Maybe a mandatory 8 hour observation shift at a trauma center like Yale before getting their license. Irregardless of what we all think, an 18 year old is fighting for his life and a family is in pain and grief. They should be in everyones thoughts and prayers.

once again another punk teenager driving like an idiot.speedbumps, yeah great idea, they will just find another place to drive like idiots .these kids have no money yet we all see these cars modified with expensice add ons.the speed bumps will slow down traffic so much, you think the traffic is bad now?.no seat belt, speeding, these kids should lose their license for a minimum 3 years.let them think about their actions for awhile let them take mass transit, too many accidents.he could have killed someone or even worse permanatly injure someone.the kid miost likely has minimum insurance so good luck getting compensation.if the car and insurance is in the parents name and their kid hurts or kills someone the parents are screwed for their kids stupid behavior.maybe im alittle bitter, its because i know someone very close to me who was injured in a crash caused by a careless kid just like this

Wow. Thirteen postings and this hasn't turned into a tribute site for the idiot yet. He got what he deserved. If you obey the posted speed limit in the lot there's no way to accomplish what he did.

The driver shouldn't have been treating the ring road as the INDY Speedway, these kids need to realize that just because the road is usually open it does have dips in it. Hurling down the road at 70+ MPH will get you in trouble, especially in a Honda Civic.

Thats someones child and everybody posts comments in here like he is some scumbag just because he was speeding. I hope to GOD that none of your children or family members never make a foolish decison.

Thanks...Yes he did something dumb, yes many things could have happened in result of his actions. But He is JUST A KID! And has no expierance in what could have happen. In stead of people saying how stupid he was they should be hoping he makes it and LIVES to right his wrong.Maybe a lightbuld will go off and someone will change the legal adult age to 21.aparently 18 is too young.some changes need to be done in kids getting their licens doing nothing is not working.

We assume he knows his numbers zero-to-nine and can count at least as high as fifty. He is the author of his own demise and has no right to compassion by excuse of his age.

Then why don't 10 year olds that can count to 100 have there license? Lets not be ridiculous here, saying that age has nothing to do with it. Maybe your an old fart and dont remember what it was like to be 18, but most 18 year olds make plenty of dumb decisions. To say you don't have compassion for somebody that is on the brink of death says a lot about your character. I wouldnt wear that on my sleeve if I were you!!!!!

Why don't the parents of these teens get them 'safe cars'-instead of fast, cool ones?My first car was a 4 dr Chevy Impala. Not a 'cool',or sporty car-but a big safe car to get driving experience in.Today 'parents' want more to be their kid's 'buddy',instead of a parent. If I recall right, the 3 boys killed speeding at the mall last year were ALSO in a small, speedy import.
