"I made a mistake." "I'll move forward." "I'm feeling supported." This is exactly why politicians don't want the BAC limit to be lower than .08 because they obviously think it is acceptable to drink and drive.

lower???
When the laws were pitched they were about driving DRUNK...not kinda drunk, but can't walk cant drive drunk...then just a little drunk...now buzzed driving is drunk driving even though a 35 year old with 3 drinks drives way better than a sober 65 year old...
why not shut every bar and restaurant down if you cant drink one drink and an hour later drive...

I think it should be after 11PM every man for themselves...a wreck at that time prolly has a 99% chance of only affecting the driver...and the drunk driver crasher usually walks away...
a few trees may get hit but....

Thats the problem. There are far too many people who think its ok to drink or drug and drive. Too bad they kill others faster than they kill themselves.

Just goes to show they are not better than us common folks. Let's see if his punishment is the same as what the rest of us would get or will it be reduced to a lesser charge like parking on a sidewalk? Technically he should have to take crash and go to all the AA meetings like everyone else but will he? I wonder if the courts decision will be published in the paper or maybe they will consider than not news worthy.

The .08 limit is ridiculous and too low - the result of political jelly spines in the fact of stupid organizations like MADD. Mr. Salmos, or any first time DUI offender, should get a pass and have their record purged if they do not do it again.

Instead, our courts are going to bully Mr. Salmon, yet allow five or 10 time offenders off with hood with narry a slap on the wrist.

It is unfair that our courts will take away Mr. Salmon's good name, yet do nothing to multiple DUI offenders who are caught with much higher blood alcohol levels every time.

I doubt Mr. Salmon is a first time offender. This is just the first time he got caught. He'll do it again just live all the others. The first offense should be the toughest to act as a deterent to keep it from happening at all.

Chestnuts don't fall very far from the tree I guess. His father was a known to take a drink every now and then. At least his father sobered up and remained a Democrat (sort of). Maybe the boy should just stick to drinkin', which he seems to have down pat, and leave politics to others.

I bet he wasn't impaired at all. People can forget to use a turn signal with or without alcohol impairment. The BAC limit used to be .10. It was lowered due to pressure from the federal government, not because of public safety.

I think the police should have to wait for more than the absense of one turn signal in order to pull over a licensed driver.

It's all a money making scheme. I wonder how many officers of the law tipple before getting behind the wheel?

Also, the 50 mph speed limit is ridiculous, as is the 55 mph on Route 7.

Mr. Salmon says he's owning his mistake. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Uh, Stupid....He admitted that he had 2 scotches, 3 glasses of wine and an after dinner drink. That's a little more than just a little wine. Go back and read the story....or just remain stupid. Whatever works for you.
