Under the direction of Mayor Lombardi, the Town of North Providence has established a Youth Commission- a youth led advocacy organization designed to express youth voice. The North Providence Youth Commission (NPYC), modeled after its Cumberland counterpart, will act as a liaison between youth and town officials, perform service projects for the town, and serve as representatives for their contemporaries. Neil Anderson, a Northeastern University graduate and youth development specialist, will advise the group. Newly inducted members of the NYPC will participate in a Summer Leadership Academy. This 8 week course contains workshops on leadership, advocacy, networking, business writing, and public policy. During the school year, Commissioners will meet weekly to discuss and solve issues facing youth in the town.

Thank You Mayor Lombardi!! My child is part of the youth commission and loves it. I am so happy to live in a town that allows teens to feel they can make a difference. Forget the old saying children should be seen and not heard. Thanks for giving my child this fabulous experience!!
