It is a shame to tear down houses especially one that is so nice and crazy looking. We just tear down and rebuild which is not good. We need to preserve these things and treasure them like the did in the old ages so one day 1000s of years from now someone will see that house. There is no reason to tear anything down. IT is a shame that we do this so often and when you look at a place like Rome, thank god there was no people living there like the people who are living around here just tearing down houses and buildings.

I have to agree with you Tim. In this country, our oldest buildings are at most a few hundred years old; whereas around the world there are buildings at least a few thousand years old. As long as we keep destroying our buildings when they are no longer convenient, we are robbing future generations any historic places that define what we are and what we were and what we can become.

Understood and point taken but those other countries you speak of are much older than the US, Hence they will have older buildings.

Let them eat jeans (Calvin Klien). The rich can produce trash so heavy that bonds need be posted for fear of damage to roads, while the poor cannot afford housing despite working full time in some cases. What is wrong with this country?

Of course, you're right, we're not as old as a country as others are. But we have to start somewhere, don't we? Some of those most-admired buildings in other countries are homes built to impress, and built frequently as summer homes (think Balmoral Castle in Scotland). I don't know, maybe I'm just a romantic when it comes to these things.

Just have Long Island's illegal immigrant population occupy it. Over a couple of months it'll be the same as demolishing it. I'm sure the illegals can probably fit at least 5000 of their people in their. 50 per room? No problemo...

Your anti-Israel and anti-semitic rants only show how jealous you are.

A house of enoumous money is being torn down and an even more expensive one is being built...in a town where you will never live...among people who will never accept you...spending money you only dream of.

If it's pity that you look for in these forums, rest assured, you get it...but not for the reasons you might think.

I glad I don't live anywhere near this place. This is where the real garbage of America lives. Because you have a lot of money doesn't mean your not class-less garbage.

I hate to see the house go, it doesn't fit in the area, but I always loved to drive by and admire it's cheesiness.

Calvin Klein's new home will be of the inoffensive variety. With 17,850 square feet of living area, the Klein abode will be lower and more in harmony with the other nearby estates.

Neighbor Aby Rosen said that the demolition of the old manse, coupled with a "more scaled (down) and refined property, will help our neighborhood improve aesthetically."

As quoted from Newsday above who justs loves these Rich "B's" it seems as they report on them so much. AND WHAT SWEET DEAL DID MR KELIN GET WITH THE TOWN FOR PROPERTY AND THE TAXES???
I personally hope the Indians get part of the township back! Unfortunately I remember the old Long Island befor the Rich Bit***s!
