In regards to the Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center, I was born and raised in Rockland County and attended many performances there. I went away to college and came back to discover that the theater will no longer be a part of my "Rockland pride".
Also, I just saw a commercial announcing the town meeting to discuss the fate of the Pearl River Theater. After college, I left Long Island and returned to Rockland. I convinced my fiance to move upstate to the town of Pearl River. We were so excited to see that there was a local theater other than venturing to the one in the 4 story Palisades Center. However, we were extremely disappointed to learn that the the theater was closed. Rockland County NEEDS local entertainment! Long Island was an area of movies, music, and art. Citizens of this county should not have to flock to one central location for the arts. I can only hope that my opinion might reach the ears of someone who can help this unforunate situation. Sincerely, Helen Armida |
