North Port Pawn shops

Being retired I often go to pawn shops, looking for things I need.
This I have done for years.
Recently my trip took me to the pawn shop on the west side of 41 on the South Side of North Port.
The owner "Joe" had been a friendly sort, but now he has hired help?
I witnessed a lady with a friend. She was there with some beautiful Gold Jewelry.
The new employee literally damaged each piece almost intentionally, than gave her a ridiculous price for all of it. As she didn't speak English her friend served as the interpreter. I stood there as I saw tears from her eyes. She only wanted to pawn, not sell. Now it was damaged.
They hurridly gathered up the Beautiful Gold and clasping it into hands started to run from the shop, when the owner Joe stopped her, and ask "well, just how much do you want for the scrap"?
This was translated, and the lady looked as if she wanted to spit into his eye, and the two left.
I then began to make a deal with them, only to be insulted to the point of the fat slob asking me if I wanted to take it out side to fight.
If the owner who also turned out to be an ass, thinks he can make a living, he should learn from the Pawn shop on the north end, on the east side of 41.
The place was packed, and i had to wait over a half of an hour ...but Kelly the owner gave me a fantastic deal. They told me, that Joe and the fat slob were running their business off.
I am not writing this to promote anyone, just to make you aware.
BTW, just about everything Joe has, he had six months ago. Wonder why?

If you mean the pawn shop that is owned by a guy named joe?
Stopped there to see about buying something, and save a few bucks.
if you called him a prick, your absolutely right. The bald headed freak....looks like he just got out of the pen.
Should have read your posting before going to that place.
Ended up driving all the way to Venice. Didn't know about the other place.
If this jerk stays open another six months, I will be suprised.

Thank you for the tip on "Joe's" pawn shop...I too am a retiree with very limited income. So rest assured I won't frequent any establishment that is disrespectful to the customer. I'll take my business elsewhere!

After reading this post, really just thought it was someone trying to discredit a local store for personal reasons.
Yesterday I stopped by this pawn shop, after a lot of difficulty finding this hole in the wall. I was looking at the prices, and was horrified to see the prices were more than I could buy it new, and the rest was junk.
When I made a comment about this, the owner became furious, and told me, I could get my ass out the same door I came in.
Then this bald headed goon came around the counter, and wanted to know if I wanted to take it outside.
WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
I know there is another pawn shop in North Port, and if anyone can tell me where it is I would be thankful.
Guess I should have listened to whoever wrote this.
Now my input. Unless you care to risk your self "stay away"

If they want more than you can buy it new for. The place is just a front for something else. Must make there money on other things?

Never left my thoughts on this place before. I am getting plenty sick of Charlotte County and the whole have and have not way.
This little hole in the wall is typical of the country is coming to.
The jerk that runs the place thinks he is God, and you will take what offer he says.
I will not deal with jerks. What ever happened to the honest joints.
Is this place is for real? If I have not cooled down when I get back I will take their offer, and TAKE IT OUTSIDE.

The owner of this store has always been kind and generous. He generously donates to the local youth sports clubs even though he does not have children himself. He is trying to make a living in North Port and become part of the community.
You can only imagine the people he come across on a daily basis. I have found the best deals for my kids video games, accessories, and lap tops, TV's. He aslo has some new items that are abit more expensive but they are new and not Pawned items.
Please don't judge by only what you read. I am sorry someone had such a bad experience but I know many that have had a great experince try for you self.

Maybe your name says why he likes you better MOM! Some men like females better.

You seem to know a lot about this jerk. If he has Soooooo many customers, he must be selling something out the back door, as he sure isn't selling out the front.
Maybe this is why he has the "GOON" working for him.
Just like in the movies...
I will not forget "there are better, more honest places to spend my money with out the insults".
Or maybe you get hot being around people as this.

Thanks so much for the advice. I have been in no mood lately to be treated badly. I do find in port Charlotte latley that I have ran into some really rude and mean help. I was about to venture out and do some pawn shop shopping. I must say I am tempted to go into this place and take out some frustration and see how rude this jerk is. I have been to Tim's pawn once and I had a great ecoerience. He was very nice and gave me a lot of money for my scrap gold. More then I had even expected.

Defamation is a serious offense, and its victims can earn large settlements in the civil courts. Slander, like libel, is a civil wrong that occurs when someone makes a damaging and untrue statement about somebody else. The main difference between slander and libel is that slander is spoken, whereas libel is written. To win a slander case, you must prove, on a balance of probabilities, that a defamatory statement was uttered out loud.
