Haha, I would love to know who your children are, because since we're from the same city I assume they go to my school. I get what you're saying about you regulating their religious beliefs until a certain age, sure. But if you think for a moment that your children are not constantly exposed to other religious in their daily school life then you are sadly mistaken. We are constantly caught up in religious topics, no matter what the class may actually be. And misguided youths with misinformation? No offense, but obviously your children tell you nothing about school, because that is pretty much the entire population of West Brunswick High. No matter what you may try to sway your child into believing or thinking or doing, they're still going to do what they please. We're teenagers, we 'know everything', remember?First of all. No one should be handing out any religious materials in our schools. I am a christian. I beleive in GOD. I as a parent am teaching my children my beliefs. Notice that I used the word "I". It is my responsibility not only to guide my children in their faith but to decide what others that they are exposed to. NOT THE SCHOOL BOARD, the Gideons, Wiccans, Pagans, Muslims, Christian Leaders, etc...When my children reach an age of maturity (my choice when that is), they will be taught about other religions and beliefs as a cultural experience. It is dangerous to expose children to religious choices other than those taught by thier parents because I can promise you there will be no one standing there to answer the questions, and there will always be questions. A misguided youth with half truths and mis-information, no matter how well intentioned is more likely to land in jail or worse, become a participant in misadventure and experimental behaviors causing a rift in the family support system. Disconnects of family are the leading cause of adolescent depression, drug use and suicide among that age group. Stop trying to raise MY children.

1 latin was originally a language of magic, catholic priests stole it to "enchant" the people. That is why the vatican is touchy about losing latin mass. I researched this. very fascinating. |

1 Yeah, I can't believe anything you say from this point forward. This is about the most incorrect statement about the origins of a language I have ever heard. The canaanites and the celts were distinctly different people who have never been called by the other's name at any point in any history worth reading. And the Celts and Romans (you know, the country where latin originated) didn't particularly get along. Even when Gaul was eventually conquered, the Celtic states on the fringes were left largely untouched, which is the reason for Hadrian's wall. Latin and Greek branched originally from the same proto-language offshoot from indo-european, but they were cousins. One was never a parent language of the other. As for the celtic languages having any influence, you are thoroughly misguided here. There is little evidence of influence from Celtic to Latin or the other way around, certainly not enough to justify the sort of grand uniting force it was supposed to be. Celtic languages influenced French and to a degree Spanish and Portuguese, but not Italian to any measurable degree. |

1 It's also not a real language. Egyptian, and later Coptic, are well attested as the primary language of egypt since the very earliest writings existed. It wasn't even a semitic language as Sumerian and Akkadian were. So the idea that it originated with sumeria is patently absurd. Do you have any word samples I could look at to see if I could derive it's family? Or is it 'too powerful to teach to outsiders.' |

What if My family doesn't worship the bible. I mean do we have the right in this country to not believe in the bible? Why should we be subjected to your stupid, lame and obviously FICTIONAL( roughly 2008 yrs old by the way) account of events that may or may not have happened. Just so you know- The bible isn't real. It is not the words or thoughts of some great celestial creator. It was written by the same people that Christians despise and hate.(thats against the bible by the way) You are not right and the rest of us can have a different opinion from you.

Teaching religion doesn't belong in the public schools. That's what private schools and homeschooling is for.

I have no problem with an honest, unbiased, teaching of religions as part of a study of sociology and culture. The problem remains it is very hard to find someone who will teach in that manner, showing no bias toward or against any religion. My problem with it comes in when it is being taught as something the student is to put into practice, something more than simple information on the subject. |

My parents were devout Catholics and I witnessed an almost unwitting arrogance because they were staunch in the belief in their absolute rightness, but because that is what they were taught. Catholics don't question or analyze their own religion, they just take in what they're told and then spend the rest of their days trying to convince the rest of us that they're right and we're wrong. Honestly, it's like they've been brainwashed, only for some of us it doesn't work. |

I agree with what you're saying, but the whole "Christians are dumb" thing makes you sound like a four year old after someone called you a bed-wetter or something. If you expect someone to take you serious and NOT offend you, why offend them? |
