Of course, he's a political insider, he supports letting the city unions raid the public treasury, he'll do the bidding of the politicians like a good Yes-Man, he'll hire the friends and families of city employees like his own children were hired. He's status quo -- and city government labor unions, bureaucrats and smiling politicians like that.
Why? Because the entire government system of sucking off the public teets could come crashing down if they hired someone who rocked the boat, wanted to eliminate waste, reduct budgets and taxes, and stop the nepotism and croneyism. |

Again, I say Charlie Beck is part of the old guard in the LAPD, and that attitude doesn't change simply because he was promoted quickly by Bratton.
As with Obama, it is important that one of the qualifying factors is looking at the people one surrounds himself/herself with. Beck is known to have surrounded himself with persons (read command level officers)that made up allegations in trying to cause the firing of employees, as well as a commander that of his own volition decided to circumvent state regulations. This is the level of integrity and ethics Beck brings to the top cop job in L.A. This tells me that the corruption will continue within the LAPD, because Beck is of the mindset that if cutting corners is necessary, so be it! |

KBlA has reason for concern if you look at how many cops still allegedly admire Gates over Bratton because they say he stood up for the rank & file better, right or wrong - the attitude that got lAPD under the consent decree and why it took an outsider like Bratton to get LAPD out.
It took someone not afraid to do the right thing, not afraid to upset his buddies from way back. The way the heads of the Police Political League had said stuff like this, and put in their daily email articles by "Jack Dunphy" saying Bratton was no better than a bad tv actor, and have gone out of their way to diss their Chief and openly advocate for making the job elected so they could pour money into electing someone they can control, are kind of shocking and wrong. BUT I'm sure Chief Bratton knew what he was doing if he really did push for Beck as someone who could keep his eye on the direction the dept. needs to go in even when some cops won't like it. The fact that Beck is sticking to the central parts of Bratton's focus no matter the encouragement of some to throw Bratton under the bus already, is very encouraging. He seems like the kind of man to stick to his word, whose word is his bond old-school, and that was Bratton too although they are very different in many ways. |

He wants no crimes reported he wants no arrests and that's his goal. Hide the crimes, blame the victims or ignore them, that's the LAPD. Good Choice.
