Here we go again. Another of NH's finest doing what they do best. BREAKING THE LAW. What a scum bag. Now if this was me or any civilian we would have been arrested back in April. Probably still in jail with no bond. And no pay. This is ridiculous. All the cops think they are above the law. Do what ever you want to anyone. I hope that someone does this to his wife and daughters. Lets see how he feels then. I bet it will be a totally different story. It would go from a misdemeanor to a felony in a heart beat. Lock him up, throw away the key and let bubba fondle him for a while. He can get together with White and Kasparek and they can all the inmates can have a party with them. Administrative leave with pay. Thats a bunch of crap too. Dont pay a sexual offender.

NHPD isn't all bad. I know some of those police officers. The morons who get arrested make the others look bad, but don't throw out the good ones too.

This is very sad news to hear, I have known “Tony” Maio for many years, about as many years as he has on the job, and this story seems totally out of his character. It’s very sad news for a department that has suffered some really bad publicity in some really disturbing cases of late.
If these accusations prove to be true, then he’s done an incredible job hiding a very dark side of his character that none of those who have known and worked with him ever knew. Our prayers are with you brother, if your reading this, we all hope this isn’t true.

When I jeard this story, I thought about all the young kids who become cynical after seeing the head of the narcotics unit caught in a Federal sting, another cop arrested stealing lobsters from his neighbors in Madison, another cop planting evidence on an innocent person because he has "a gambling problem", etc, etc. It makes me angry when the guy planting evidence gets way less time than the guy he planted it on, no doubt because he can afford a tricky lawyer who pulls the right strings. I'll bet the other poor bast--d had a free public defender and got the typical poor person's sentence. If you don't believe there's a difference, look at the Sex Offender website and look at the disparity between the sentences of white perverts and minority ones. The whole system is screwed up. It's who you know and how much you can pay that determines your punishment. The answer: don't give up, stay in school, go to college, get your law license, and help the poor get justice like Barack did when he graduated Harvard.

I am sorry but this is jsut not right for any cop to do this. He is not a good person at all. And as I ahve said before. people think cops are good but they arent. They all have something to hide. I hope thsi victim takes this to the fullest extent. And believe me, the cops that hang out in NH at the bars supposedly doing there jobs?????? Yeah right.

And how many hundreds of NHPD are there? And there have been, what 5-6 in the last year that have done something wrong? You are one of the many that love the sensationilizing that the news "reporters" do to these stories. You only hear the bad, never the good. Not all cops are bad, don't generalize it. It is like saying every person that uses the screen name JGC is an idiot!

I know Officer Maio personally and developed a relationship with several years ago as my friends and I were frequents at a bar he worked several nights a week. So I am quite certain that this happened at one of the local bars that hire police officers to insure the safety of their partrons. Office Maio is social and one could see him as flirty in nature but in the years that my friends and I went down to Bar and saw him weekly, developing a good relationship with him, not once did he ever touch us or make inappropriate sexual comments. Sure the conversation at times could have been risque but it was never inappropriate. It was often just Office Maio mingling trying to maintain a good relationship with the regulars and also change the view of the many officers that work downtown who are perceived as a**holes. Myself (and I'm female)and many of my friends (both male and female)would spend hours at night just talking to and hanging out with Office Maio. He was comical, easy-going, and treated us like people and not as though he was above us simply because he was a cop on the job. This is by no means to take away from the victims but I wouldn't be suprised if at the end of the investigation we come to find out that this is all someone making a big deal out of something trivial. I also wouldn't be suprised if the victim(s) were intoxicated at the time this alleged act happened. Lets also not forget that its sexual assault in the 4TH DEGREE...this could mean that he said something inappropriate and now some disgruntled chick is making a point.

here in eugene oregon we had the same thing going on for more than 5yrs. two cops were making women have sex with them. they too were on paid leave until convicted. (SURPRISE). they should be treated like ordinary citizens. good or bad. i don't trust any cop, any where. and when they get to prison or jail they should NOT be given preferential treatment, or be away from gen pop.

I find it interesting that we live in a society that assumes guilt (especially because he is a police officer). I have known Anthony Maio for years and quite frankly assume whoever is making these accusations is the one who is guilty of lying. To many people jump on the alleged victims side without any information.

I believe we are in a country where someone is innocent until proven guilty. There must be some evidence that warrants further investigation. Looking at a person who has worked for 13 years or longer and NOT A SPECK OF SAND tarnishing his reputation is there. Rather bump him into a group of individuals who are proven guilty, lets just wait it out and return here with our TRUE views. Regardless this man has protected and mentord and we owe him our compassion until this is proven one way or another. Police officers tend to socialize to keep "things under control." I commend the police department on doing what is necessary but I have trust that the truth will come out and "it would have shown itself years ago by officer maio - especially with all of the tough things he has seen in his life as an officer. I feel for his family, his fellow officers, and maio. Let's say that in a grand scheme of things, this was a "set up" and officer maio did not do what is said to be done. HIS family, reputation (13 years), his career, life, future will forever be "arrested because of this..." Then we may be criticizing the alleged victims. Sooo instead of "taking sides," lets give both sides the benefit of the doubt and leave it at that until the real truth comes out...doesn't that sound fair...we are automatically judging someone (both sides) without knowing more info..come on, I thought we were all smarter than that..or maybe not. See what your replies demonstrate
