The one in Dublin isn't ugly either. Those Yield signs are just hideous. They totally overshadow any charm that the downtown use to have. Nothing historic about ugly neon yield signs ALL OVER THE PLACE.

On my first and only experience with the roundabout I couldn't figure out how the hell to turn into the downtown parking space without doing a u-turn! Trying to read the signs, look for a place to park and watch for pedestrians all at the same time...geez. I as driving on Scioto Street and wanted to turn into the parking for Citizens/Peoples. I started to turn right into the spot but a sign says you can't just turn right into a spot. The only way I could figure to get into the parking area would be to make a sharp U-turn into the parking area before turning onto N. Main St. Fortunately, I found a place to park on N. Main and walked to the banks, but I won't be giving downtown Urbana a second chance unless I absolutely have to! I'll be doing all my banking at the branches and doing all of my insurance transactions by mail/internet.

well if they'd move the monument over to that empty corner, and make a nice little sitting area there and put the lights backup where they belong it would be fine. they sure know how to blow money in these dumbass towns. don't think much of the new lights and cement work on east 36 either, the money could be spent someplace else

I just recently moved to Urbana and love it! Just remember the cars in the circle have the right of way. I have weekly meetings downtown and have never had a problem. Sometimes people don't adapt well to change. Personally, I like a challenge. Now I have never had to walk across the street, perhaps that might be a challenge I would not want to face...but so far so good. It hasn't kept me from shopping/business downtown. As far as West Liberty, the town just isn't as hopping as Urbana.
I use to think it was, but not since moving here.
Think I might throw my hat in the ring someday.

Oh yeah, Urbana just hops, hops, hops. I can shop places much safer and there's nothing downtown I need. You can have it Whipplepig.

With Pleasure Breezy. With or without the Roundabout, Urbana is a very nice town with lots of potential.

There is a similar roundabout in Mt Vernon (I think) and it seems to flow better than Urbana's.

I go through Urbana's twice per day and have idiots pull out in front of me all the time. Though, I think once people get used to it, it will be better.

I'm not a big fan of the roundabout and I do use downtown business. But what I am not a bigger fan of people cracking on Urbana. We have a nice town here. It's not perfect but it is nice. It does not have everything I am looking for but it is not that far away from the places that do. I am going to say what I have said before. If Urbana is not your cup of tea move! There are plenty of towns that hop hop hop. and you can pay the higher prices etc. there and that should make you happy.

It is apparent that you can never please everyone, esp with this issue. However, I find that it is much easier to pass through downtown in the mornings and afternoons when traffic was backed up for multiple blocks and it took 20 minutes to get through the intersection when the lights were up. The longest that I have waited to get through the roundabout is less than a minute. It is simple yield to the left. Than means if you see 1 or 10 cars coming from the left you stop and wait until they pass and it is clear to go. I admit some people still don't quite get it. However in time it will work good. The semi issue has always been a problem and is not an issue of the roundabout. As for not being able to "window shop" while driving through the square, YOU ARE DRIVING WATCH THE ROAD. Maybe the people window shopping while driving are the problem that is causing the accidents and issues in the roundabout, maybe? If you want to shop, park and walk around the square and do all the window shopping you want to do while not interrupting traffic and endangering yourself and everyone else around you. To all the people on here doing the name calling and telling everyone that this is so stupid and that the monument should be bulldozed, I hope that you step up and put your name on the ballet next go around. Let the people decide if you are as wise as you think that you are.

So, has everyone started adjusting to the Runabout?
Most I have spoken with find it is alot quicker and seem to like it for the most part.
Someone stated that it was like yielding on the expressway upon entering. Hope all is well with you all.
