Introduced unanimously at Tuesday's council meeting, the law would carry a three-tier system of penalties for underage drinkers and reflects measures taken by surrounding towns in recent years.

Can someone tell me what at 18 does a person know or think they know of the world or life itself.I was 18 at one time and thought I had all the answers too.As you grow you will find out that the more you think you know the less you know.We don't need drunk drivers! We used that one in the 60s it does not stick.

Being young doesn't make you more likely to drink and drive. There must be more people over age that drink and drive than underage by a huge margin. Many think they're "experienced" so they're not as careful because nothing bad has happened before. I'm sure you drank when you were young thebiggb, but now, you've forgotten what it's like to be young. It's a classic case of lawmakers passing acts that don't effect them because it's aimed at a group that they do not fall within.

I don't think establishing a drinking age is "lawmakers passing acts the don't effect them". I think, like thebiggb said, that at the age of 18 people are much more likely to make poor decisions by not taking things into consideration. This doesn't not mean that there are some HIGHLY mature 18 year olds (certainly there are some older people that are VERY immature).

You are correct that there are plenty of people 21 and older that make the BAD decision to drink and drive. Along with these people there are also underage drivers that are driving after drinking. My fear is that is the drinking age is lowered, the amount of 18-20 year-old drivers who are drinking will increase DRASTICALLY.

You need to understand that this is nothing personal and for a very long time MANY people (myself included) had to wait until turning 21 to drink. It's really not a big deal.

Yo if u think this stupid law is meant to keep people under twenty one from driving drunk - it isnt! Its just another way for the milltown police to occupy themselves during their boring shifts. Im 18 and made the choice to drink a little and had my sober friend attempt to drive me to his house. He got pulled over (driving perfectly i might add) and one thing led to another and i was cuffed on the curb, breathing into a breathalizer and getting my car searched and on my way to the police station even after displaying i am smart enough not to drive drunk. For having a clean record prior to this incident, I think one cop was just trying to impress the bossman. Oh well, im glad i dont live in Milltown.

Hopefully Milltown won't make the same mistake as EB when it comes to implementing the law: it gave local thugs/cops too much power to stomp over people's privacy rights.

Funny how when one resident complained at a Council meeting, the cops stormed his house later that week and tried to publicly humiliate him.

So much for questioning your leaders!

boo hoo, is that the best you can come up with? Does your crack-addled mother know you're using the computer again after she caught you luring little children to your "playroom"?
As for style, sweetie, cuum isn't a hair care product even though you tried to make that trendy.
