In all complete honestly, I have lived in Fostoria for the better part of 22 years. My parents raised me here, and I am now raising my children here. Sure, things have changed over the years, there is no longer a W.K.R.P. for the children of the area, the garage across from the ballpark caught fire, and the old brick Methodist church at the north end of town burnt. What used to be Jim & Naries now stands abandoned, and the party store is now next to the old bank... which has been turned into an apartment. But, we are holding at a population of rougly 2500, not 30, not under 1000. There is still the Library, twp. hall and Fire Dept. at the south end of town, the bar, although it has passed hands a few times over the years, still stands. The Tribesmen still ride their bikes out and hold meetings in their club house, and still hold their annual swapmeet... We have the party store, the post office, and many forget the little machine shop that has been here since before I have been... the Methodist Church has been rebuilt next to Hair Line Design, the little salon, and the Baptist church, still stands proudly with some newer additions.

Does anybody have any information or old pictures of the fire department or their trucks? I happen to own the 1950 Ford fire engine that the Fostoria Fire Department had from 1950 till 1972. It is enjoying a comfortable retirement in Conway, Missouri. The fire department sent me an old newspaper clipping from 1972 with a small picture of the fire engine, but I would love to know more about both the engine and the department's history. If anyone can help out, I would greatly appreciate it. Just reply here. Thanks!

Jennifer, Thanks for the reply, my Grandfather's name was Joseph A. Robison. He was married to Bessie W. Johnson also from Fostoria. I'm just seeking information that might lead to other Robison's or Johnson's that are related to me. |

Let me do some research with the names you have given me and I will get back to you.

I lived in Fostoria from 1983-1990. My dad was the pastor at Fostoria Baptist Church. Mr Mcmullen used to tell me that Fostoria was once a thriving little town. Mr Swadling used to say the same.
