They never have enough and when the taxpayers start complaining -- the first words out of their mouths is that the world would come to an end.
yes, yes, yes and yes

Three things America needs right now are:

1)Term limits for every elected official
2)Mandated balanced budgets
3)END to the shenanigans,
bye bye lobbyists, bye bye congressmen inside trading, bye bye closed door deals.

It's probably too late,
but wouldn't it be nice if we TRIED to save our own *sses

Let's take a look at the people who are in charge of the budget shall we. In this link the first few probably made a good chunk of their money through legislation they paved a path to pass, which they were able to buy or dump stock because after all they make the laws that approve or deny funding.

Also check out the poorest politicians....are they proof enough that politicians are dumber than a rock? How is someone almost $5 MILLION in the hole and voting on legislation involving money????????

Should I even mention Maureen Feeney here?

No one believes a word you say because you are a filthy spammer.

No one believes your neighbor's step aunt makes USD-anything since you live in Bulgaria not the US.

I'm guessing you make the equivalent of USD.50c a day spamming websites like this one.

One way around this 6.25% tax is to buy online !!!!! Many items are S&H free....Look at what you like in a brick and mortar store, then look the item up online....

NH border is only about an hour away with major stores in Salem and Manchester, NH....

Whenever the 6.25% will cover my fuel cost,
I drive to NH to get it.

I guess the state still gets their money,
from gas taxes though.

I'll have to remember to top my tank off next time I'm up there.

BTW,
I did not do this when the tax was 5%.

If you think you get no benefits from your taxes, you must not drive or have gone to school or needed a policeman or fireman, etc., etc., etc.. You lose alot of credibility when you say you see so many people driving around in Mercedes and Beamers. While there are abuses of the system, you can't really believe that most of the people on welfare live that well. If you want to complain about people who abuse the system, complain about the corporations that pay no taxes and get multi million dollar hand outs from the gov., they waste more of your money in a minute than does the welfare cheat in a year.

It would be suicide to vote for a tax decrease. Aid to cities and towns would be cut to nothing. Our property taxes and rents would sky rocket. More foreclosures, more homeless.. more expensive than the lousy 3% tax. Vote the idiots out!!!!

These people are crazy. We don't have enough money now, if this goes through the state will be bankrupt.
With this bunch of clowns running things -- there is never enough money. Even if they had a sales tax at ten times the current rate they would complain that they did not have enough. The bottom line is -- if you are ever going to get a handle of ever increasing government spending you are going to have to forcibly put it on a diet. They have proven time and again that they will not do it themselves so it is up to the people to control its spending by reducing its revenue.

By the way -- the state will spend us all into bankruptcy if we don't put a stop to its growth and spending.

man we got some trolls on here.
this guy makes sense. its true. yeah we got leeches, and they abuse the system but the ignorance of so many don't even think of the waste companies create, as well as our leaders fighting in wars that really have no point anymore. we got what we wanted so lets go! simply put, this would be good for mass for us, and sellers. yeah chances could be taxes raise elsewhere, but do we want to fear and say no, or give it a shot and see what it can do? taxes are only rising anyways! i mean we ain't doing well already and so far even if we stay our hand and don't change things, things are changed anyways and without our input, changed by theirs and we all know how that goes. either way, this would def bring more shoppers here. you gotta make a sacrifice somewhere, and without taking chances you will never know for sure, not just based in past facts and scenarios to judge what will really happen.
all this hate against those on ssdi, ssi, food stamps, and welfare. its easy to blame those targets and in some cases rightfully justified if about the true losers who lie to get free cash. but biggest waste of money is really companies, wealthy NOT being taxed when it makes sense to tax them a bit more sense the amount they have is bigger, and pointless wars. tax the rich more, not crazy like but a bit more because they simply don't seem to want to pay at all and it makes sense to equal it out by amount. so far, its hurt us not to. it isn't politics or facts, its just plain common sense. not to mention dipping into ssi by our leaders to fund wars, and personal vendettas and desires, and trying to scare the public ss wont be around much longer. oh, but its still ok to tax ss on pay checks and troll the money out of the funds that should have never been touched. either way ur money goes, it either goes to a ballistic missile hitting a hut in the sand, or feeding a needy family who doesn't abuse it. a lot of this debt stuff is just political theater.
The problem is when government decides to assume the role of charity giver -- what was once charity now becomes a right and as with all government run systems corruption and waste becomes the norm. The complaint about the rich not paying a fair share and corporations not pay taxes is again falling into a trap -- allowing the precept to go unchallenged that the money was actually needed in the first place and spent for constitutionally authorized purposes. You have to ask the questions. 1. Was the money really needed in the first place? 2. Would Corporations just pass the cost of the tax on to the consumers? 3.If Government restricted itself to its legal role would the income tax be needed at all? 4. With the ability to directly tax the wages of the people and the ability to borrow huge sums and pass the cost on to future generations -- hasn't this given the government the resources to step out of its legal role? 4. Hasn't it facilitated the welfare state, imperial adventurism, and with it an increased centralization of authority? 5. Hasn't it encouraged a from of fascism/corporatism? 6. Do you think this corrupt mutation of a government, controlled by an elite that has wrapped the chains of servitude around the necks of generations to come would willingly relinquish power?

I see nothing in our future but further centralization of power -- there is nothing worse than a slave that thinks he is free -- we have slowly allowed ourselves to become modern-day house slaves. We have the illusion of freedom --- a much more efficient model to control the masses than the slavery of our early history. But, as resources dwindle and future generations are indebted to the point that they have no real lives -- Will our lives begin to resemble more and more the slavery of the 1800's.

The only way for the people to control government and keep it in its place as a servant is to keep tight control of the purse strings.

Lets see -- we have a real estate tax, sales tax, income tax, tolls, excise tax, fees, licenses, permits, meals tax, hotel tax and every manner and way the state and towns have invented to collect additional revenue. We have gas tax, utilities tax, car repair tax, tire tax, battery tax,…….. and on and on. I haven’t even added the federal taxes. You think that it not realistic to reduce the sales Tax? All I can do is shake my head and wonder why so many people lack critical thinking skills.
You forgot to mention that we have a paid for state turnpike which was supposed to revert back to being free once it was paid for and never will. We also have a state lottery that was supposed to go 100% to the schools which would lower the real estate taxes big time. Also it should be noted that public sector employies make a hell of a lot more money than similar jobs in the private sector and as for their retirements everyone knows that we can not pay for this much longer. And as disgusting as it is the major requirment for a public sector job is not what you know but who you know.

If tax money shouldn't be used for police, schools etc., how should they be funded? While I now live in a small town, I have not always. I have seen these abuses of welfare in big cities and small towns and I don't believe they are that much of a percentage of the total. I also get annoyed with people taking advantage of the system but I feel most of these people need some kind of help. 10% of the country is unemployed and more have had their unemployment run out. Should we just let them and their families die? Better that some get to abuse the system than we let that happen.
Like it normally is funded -- through creating so many laws and regulations that you cannot go a day without breaking them -- lots of fines, fees, and speed traps. Wait for the camera lights at every intersection...go over the line and get a $500 fine. The school system tugs at he heart strings (its for the children)It is a monopolistic bureaucracy run by and for the unions, extorting vast sums of money from the taxpayers and providing little real value other than being a day prison for our children.

By the way -- based on the performance of our government run schools I would say for many kids it is a big waste of time and money. For what they actually get out of the system, which is not that much -- most kids could have gotten a better education being home schooled by a High School dropout. The system quickly destroys any real creativity and critical thinking skills that a child may have naturally had before entering the system. Most kids graduate from HS with no skills and no idea what they want to do. They seriously lack critical thinking skills and the only path they see forward is to put themselves into another abusive system (college) that is designed to extort as much money as possible from their parents and/or put the student in debt for at least a 1/3 of their adult life. It has all become a bureaucratic and parasitic process that feeds on the lives of parents and children. If it hasn't destroyed you child during the process -- it will eventually create an obedient worker for industry and government.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Taurus

Get involved in financial transactions at your peril under today's Lunar Eclipse, because certain people will use them as a stick to beat you with. For instance, if you ask someone to lend you money they'll either make you feel guilty about it or dredge up all sorts of past instances when their trust was betrayed. You would also be well advised to avoid any show of possessiveness or jealousy, even if you feel it, unless you truly don't care about the disastrous outcome.
