lil ol me North Adams, MA	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #39 May 31, 2009 trem is no different than: "the spoke" guy - didnt pay taxes "the angelina's lady" - didnt pay taxes collected "the used car guy" in williamstown - didnt pay taxes i guess its ok for him to do that since no body pays taxes around here.\ "takecare" says its ok - at least he owes taxes. would you rather steal or be lazy? tough choice. trem and the others chose to steal. i would rather be a monk and spit-shine windshields personally.
ctrem Castleton On Hudson, NY	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #40 May 31, 2009 you obviously don't read too well....the tax issue is in regard to a corporate change....some of the taxes have been paid by me personally and applied to the sole proprietor and not to the corporate....but don't worry they will be paid soon....and after they are paid will you be posting on here that i got it straightened out and paid them......i won't hold my breath...

How interesting that you would only list small business owners,"lil ol me". We have so few in North Adams. I would not be surprised if the majority of small business owners in North Adams are not on the brink of bankruptsy. They are the backbone of any strong community. When they fail, we all fail. These are not individuals asking for free handouts. When you see this many small business owners sruggling, to pay their taxes, you know there is a problem. I have a solution. Stop corporate welfare in North Adams. Taking care of a few, but never giving back to the many. How many millions in taxpayers dollars have we received from state and federal grants? Who has received these monies? How can we be so poor, when we have been given so much? Why do we continue to harrass our small business owners,(give them a break) but yet put our many non-profit agencies on some bizarre pedal stool? Our small business owners work "without" any federal or state funding. Can you say the same about your friends?

God Bless You I agree 100% I am an Independent living specialist.This city taking way to much in grants lets become Independent its What I sand for.Since I have been here 8 yrs I lost count how many times I am told collect SSI I will not I don't even get sec 8 Independence its are only way out of all the issues in north adams

Unfortunately, I did not catch the post that referred to that comment, which I have subsequently removed. As I have made clear on numerous times over the past several months, I am not a fan of Topix, but it is what it is, and I have no power to end it. Readers can help immensely by flagging the posts they consider offensive or by e-mailing me directly with concerns (gdrohan@thetranscript.com). Believe me, this was far from the worst we've seen. Keeping this site policed is a constant battle but one that we will continue. Other publications have simply let the venom spew, unchecked. We will not let that happen here.
