Are you kidding me! Name the school after Barrett. He's one of the worst educators to ever teach in this system,(when he was there), and you want to name a school after him. This is a slap in the face of every real educator in NA. What, has he been inside Brayton twice since it opened. And one of those was when Babeu was running against him and Barrett decided to do a brochure where he went around town with the same shirt and tie and took pictures of all his "accomplishments". Name a school after him. You just lost some serious credibility points Mr. Roach.

I think Roach is the kind of candidate that would listen to your concerns in this regard and others. That's why he has my vote, he is willing to listen and to make his homework. This guy will search and research every single item that would cross his agenda. I trust him in this, more than any other candidate or current city councilor.

I agree with you,"vote roach", but I also agree with "had enough". Mr. Roach should delete the whole paragraph on naming "any school" after the mayor. This could lose him some credibility points, as "had enough" has stated, and probably will. The mayor has done very little for our youth, to receive a honor such as this. I have enjoyed reading Mr. Roach's blogs. I like a lot of his ideas. I think he would make much needed, "positive contributions" to this community". http://gregroach.blogspot.com/

You people ever heard of the words leadership and decision making? Research and listen all you want but you still have to have the ability to make the right decision.

The funny part is that the biggest knock that Barrett and the gang have against him is that they claim he is a shill for the teachers union. I guess not.

Not knowing much about this guy, but having just checked out his blog, my guess is balls. Big brass ones. You don't name something after someone until they are gone. My guess is he predicts Lumpy will be going bye-bye.

And Wonk, shouldn't you have shouted "Toupee" right after that lame "lib's beards" maneuver ?

Perhaps Candidate Roach would consider an alternative....
It would be a far, far better thing if the AIRPORT were renamed in honor of Mayor Barrett.

Regardless of how I feel about the mayor personally, I cannot discount 26 years of service to this city. Lest we not forget what he was handed when he first became Mayor... this city was in tough, tough shape and could have easily went down.
While I don't think this city has reached it's potential (and that the current Mayor can ever get us there), I believe that he has done a fine job administrating this city, and leaves it better-off than he found it.
I think honoring him for that service would be a well-deserved accolade.
I like that Greg, along with other council and mayoral candidates are running on THEIR message, not an anti-Barrett message. This election should be based on the candidates and what they have to bring to the table: as a voter if you like it--you vote for them; if not--you don't.
I love it... and hope this can stay (at least somewhat) civilized.

of all of the "newbies" that have run for or will run for a seat on the north adams city council i think greg has the best grasp on the issues that face our community....greg isn't a one issue candidate nor is he stuck on a specific issue....i wish him luck and am sure he would be a productive member of the north adams city council.....even though he is a liberal democrat!!

He has done a fine job administering the city? He bullies and intimidates. A two year old could do a better job administering, and they would be a lot more fun to watch. Honoring him for his service? The little guy will be receiving a huge pension. That is more then enough honor. More then he really deserves, I must say.

It would be a far, far better thing if the AIRPORT were renamed in honor of Mayor Barrett. why? because soon he'll be flying to different skies. Barrett has taken more than deserved credit for Moca, even though he rejected the idea at the beginning. How about a modern contemporary estatue of Barrett(upside down too) behind mocca or near the upsidedown tree, that' would be a better tribute for a man who change the fate of a city through modern art which he believes and most importanly understands and enjoys.
