Naha plans smoke free housing

What right do they have to tell me I cant smoke in my apartment. I think there are more important things than this. First off they should worry more about the drug dealing going on in this building, they still cant figure out how to use the newly installed surveillance cameras. I've lived here for 12 yrs and not once have they ever cleaned out the venting system. Right now they are putting in a new heating system which is all fine and good but they didnt even finish putting in new windows on the back side of the building. My windows are so bad I have to put duct tape all around the windows just to keep the cold air out. We were told that our windows would be put in in the spring of 2011 now its winter 2012 and still no windows. As far as I'm concerned Bill Shrade and Jennifer Hahn are just plain stupid. I mean really. Who puts a new heating system in a building with tore up old junky windows. Are they that dumb. They wont be saving any money on heating when the windows are in such bad shape. Not only that but they leave the heat on in the stairwells all summer long. I bet you they have never even been in the stairwells. And that's another good subject. The stairwells are gross. They are never cleaned, spit on the walls , windows falling out, screens are all ripped and falling out. Down stairs in our community room they have duct tape on the windows too. Now they tell us we cant smoke in our apartment. Bill and Jennifer have their priorities mixed up. They cant even plow the parking lot. My sister lives at Berkshire Town Apartments in Pittsfield, and when it snows the residents have to have their cars moved out by 9 am so proper plowing can be done. Not here at the high rise they just plow you right in your spot, then they bitch when you try to shovel yourself out. Again I think they have their priorities backwards or they are just plain lazy. I love it when my daughter comes and picks me up at the back enterence and Bill Shrade is fast asleep at his desk. Oh the dirty little secrets of North Adams Housing Authority.

Oh shut up. As long as tax dollars are subsidizing your life you don't have anything to complain about. You have no constitutional "right to smoke" in a house I and millions of others paid for.

For that matter, I'd bet you are on subsidized healthcare. The money you would save Medicaid or Medicare by quitting tobacco is enough for me to say that I'd support a law requiring you to be tested for this particular benefit.

And if you think your building is a mess, maybe a few of you could chip in together, buy a bucket and some cleanser, and clean.

Oh, if the story in last fall's paper is to be believed, you are getting new windows at the high rise next year because replacing them during winter was considered a bad idea. Stuff it.

From what I have seen all your type suck cigaretts 24 / 7. Isn't is strange that the brainless bums who can least afford to smoke do so? How many pigs are shacked up with a sorry excuse for an man in your complex? Who do you think pays for that? I went into the dollar store one time and was overcome by the stench of cigaretts form the shabby looking jerks the place was festering with.You can smell the stench of cigaretts when you go into the Big Y which seems to cater to the welfare rat crowd. You people make me sick. I'll bet you don't work and haven't in years. Your type pay nothing into the system and take back three times what an working person ever will. WOW i agree with some of this should be DRUG FREE FIRST piss test for everyone..quit smoking use a patch..what i don't agree with is the racist way you are its not peoples fault if they where told as kids they could not pay attention ADD or some other ways to scam the system this way worked for 30 yrs. its no longer working because so many city's and town schools are labeling kids for the cash...if you really care about the city you would think of ways this population of people could work for that check but then you run into more jobs lost...its a tough problem...bottom line is if you smoke your a great big LOSER...cil

First off I am a retired war veteran, I chose to live here after my wife passed away. I myself am to old to take care of a 3 bedroom home, so I gave my only grand child the house for him and his family. I am not on welfare I collect my well deserved veteran benefits in which a third of that income goes to my rent. That is how subsidised housing works. So If I gross 2 grand a month my rent is a third of that. And if I choose to sit here in my apartment and smoke my cigar that is my business, last I knew cigarettes are not illegal.

they are planning to go smoke free in every ones apartment, not just Ashland st and Spring st. but Greylock apartments to. No smoking in the apartments and no smoking on the grounds.

You signed the lease. You knew it was public housing. If you don't like it, see what Sweetwood costs. I'm not even sure they allow smoking in their condos.

Maybe they should have a tattoo tax next or a shacking up at taxpayer expense with a bum tax? How about an illigid kid tax? Maybe tax anyone with less than six teeth? I think they are missing the boat here.
