I hope that the thrust of this endorsement is taken seriously by all people of this community no mater what side that they were on. What has past has past! Now we must join together in helping to build a stronger City for ourselves and future generations.

was a great endorsement as was pre election

I'm behind Alcombright and a fresh future. Period.
Drohan and The Transcript? A rag best suited for bird cages and housebreaking. Hopefully, it will become nothing more than a North Berkshire bureau of The Eagle. |

Now will you post a story and some pictures of the greatest moment of the 2009 campaign year. I am referring to the Friday before election stand-out by both parties at the Main Street corner. Both sides were shouting for their respectful candidate holding signs, balloons and showing their representative colors while thousands of cars past honking horns, supporting bumper stickers and yelling out words of support for both candidates and their supporters.
What a happening and you missed it and the opportunity to report it because of your blind support of Mayor Barrett and your reluctance to "maybe" give Dick Alcombright some coverage. You missed reporting the most significant moment in our history when at 4:45 PM that day John Barrett and Dick Alcombright came together and respectfully shook hands right at the corner where our City Hall stands. I saw Jillian Jones your photographer there for about an hour. Where are all those photos? Where is our story of our great city and our great people from both sides joyfully supporting their candidate? It just so happened that in the midst of all the craziness each parties supporters kept saying to each other, "Wow, isn't this great, this is what AMERICA is all about", "Wow this is Fantastic". You missed it and its time to send a reporter out to ask some people who were there what it was like to be part of the greatest political campaign ever run in the city of North Adams. Get out there yourself and try to get the feeling back on why it is so important to report the news as it is and not the way you want it to be. Use your power to give the people of North Adams what they earned throughout this great campaign, the pride that comes from participating in the process of an election in the greatest country in the world. Let your article be your apology to your readers for suppressing the story and missing one of the greatest moments in our cities history. |

There won't be any new era until Alcombright tells his crazies to calm down and back off with their hateful scumbag act.
|
||||
A new era, another one bites the dust, they must be talking about Barrett buming his ride out of town on Jan 1, 2010 thanks for the mess john |

So you can call Alcombright supporters crazies and scumbags and that isn't hatefull?

I couldn't agree with your post more. Maybe, just maybe, The Transcript will step out of shadow and grow a set long enough to stand up for the residents of it's city. It would be so gratifying for many of us to have something printed in our paper that reflects the positive connections we have made during this election. Complain if you will, but Dick Alcombright accomplished something that so many had accepted as impossible! He stood up to the powers that be...or were in this case...and showed what can really be done when the majority of it's people come together. With Dick at the helm, this energy will continue to grow and spread throughout the city. Hopefully The Transcript will follow suit and show others how positive we in North Adams can really be, and what we can do about, and for, our city! |

OK, you made the same post about hate, crazies, etc, under "wow what garbage", "Vicious Alcombright" , "Pure Hate" and "Alcombright Nutjobs" and now "no new era" what gives and any way you would let everyone know who you are or would that be to embarrassing for you? It seems that you're spending too much time on hate and crazies and the negative side of this. Please stop what you are doing! Thank you!(At least get one name to post your opinions under so people can trace your thread from article to article. In this way we will truly see if anyone agrees with you.Or weather you stand alone in your judgments.) |

You have to understand that Jillian only prints fluff not news. The Transcript needs a real photographer. |
|||
Perfectly stated. It was fun to be an American that day, on that stand out, no matter which side you were on. The Transcript could have done a story with photo's - and the fact that Alcombright's supporters (not crazy, I take offence to that) were there every Friday for weeks, except the one week that Barrett sent Lamarre out there to stand by himself on the island. We graciously went up to the Vet's Memorial that one week. Anyways, on the last Friday before the election, Barrett's blue team FINALLY show up, only did a one time stand out. Kinda late to be campaigning, the city noticed it, Barrett barely waved or smiled - he was TOTALLY uncomfortable with the whole thing. I think he knew he would be loosing that day. The handshake was a great photo op, but Barrrett needed someone with him, afraid to cross the street to shake Dick's hand by himself - so he takes big mouth, sour puss (and the only one spurting negative comments that day) JoAnne with him. Kinda wish it would have made the paper. Barrett, fat a$# and the future mayor all in one pic. Wouldn't wish that pic on my worst enemy if I was supporting Barrett. That is what REALLY happened. Maybe I should work at the Transcript as a reporter... LOL. |
||||
Jillian is not a reporter or an editor and doesn't have any authority or say in any stories that get printed. She is just a photographer and a great one at that. And if you met her you would know that she is much more than "just a photographer" she is a great person and a respectful professional. We are lucky we have her. It doesn't get any more real than that. She is a real photographer! The Transcript needs a real editor! |

Its not his fault each individual person has there own way of healing from what the monster has done to them over a long period of time.You have to forgive these people and let them now heal it takes a while its not going to happen over night.But it is not Dicks fault we are all happy that the monster is gone. |

Alcombright's supporters are not nuts. We just got behind the man we knew would win and guess what,
WE WON!!!!!!!!!! The city of NA won! BuBye Barrett and his "backers". LOL. Now, get over it. |
||||
Did you look around at Alcombright's victory celebration? Yes, there were many nice, regular North Adams voters there and for them, good for Alcombright. There was also every whack job and union schemer who have been plotting against Barrett for twenty years. Alcombright owns them, too. They were the heart and soul of his re-election force. If you lay down with dogs, you get fleas. If you willingly travel in the company of nutjobs, I'm sorry, but you are a nut. When Alcombright's screwball brigades figure out he used them to beat Barrett and has no intention of playing pattycakes with them, all hell will break out in North Adams. Within a year, folks will be begging Barrett to come out of retirement. |
||||
You are absolutely correct! Watch the video on iBerkshires and mixed in with the "normal" people were a bunch of self-serving nutbags. Plus some, like Mr. Peabody still hiding in the shadows. I just hope you are right and that Alcombright owns them and not the other way around. |
||||
Dick's his own man. Begging Barrett to come back is like asking the surgeon to put the tumor back in because you miss it. |

Dick is indeed his own man. He will not be led by those referred to in less than civil terms. What those who supported Barrett don't seems to understand is how many people came together to elect a man no one thought could beat 'the man'! If nothing else was proven by this election, the simple fact is that when this cities people want to accomplish something - we can do it! You want to see positivity in action? Check out the 'Brainstorming Challenge' thread to read for yourself just how much positive energy is around here. North Adams has some great people and they have awesome ideas to help develop what is here. To think that some 'malcontent's'- or anyone for that matter - will 'own' Dick Alcombright is doing a huge disservice to us all! Yes, some people had their own agenda, but it was THEIR'S not Dick's! He will not be led by anyone - but will work WITH us to do what's in OUR best interest. It's a whole new world out there - and we ALL get a voice - and a vote! It's called a democracy -and it's about time! |
|||
Well put. This is an exciting time. One that I can't remember ever happening before in NA. How anyone can be against ideas for a better future is beyond me. People supporting progress is a good thing. Just because a few of the people you call nut jobs are also supporting progress doesn't mean that it's wrong. Hop onboard or get out of the way. |

1 Well spoken from someone who has been scratching for years. I suppose all the people who voted don't have brains of there own. Do you want to know what beat Barrett? It was his lack of empathy for the people who put him there. It was his belief that this was his city. It was his belief that he and he alone did all the work. It was his total lack of respect for anyone who dared question him. |
