Since the last thread of this sort, a month or so ago, who has declared their intention to run for city council? Who is definite? Who is rumored?

Who is rumored to be retiring? There are two definite slots for new faces and I've heard that two long time councilors who almost backed out two years ago are more than ready this year?

Challengers Definite:
-Tremblay
-Flagg
-Bond
-NACitizen (whoever that is?)

Challengers Rumored:
-Roach
-Boland
-Jacobs
-Bona
-A 20-something female I overheard at Cup and Saucer
-Buddington
-Rudd Jr.(Didn't he move out of town?)

Vacancies Definite:
-Billings
-Alcombright

Retirements Rumored:
-Harpin
-Marden

Will Die in Council Chambers if allowed:
-Carridi
-Bloom
-Moulton
-Boucher

Mr. Boucher needs to become a strutural engineer.

He is the "blight expert" on the city council after all.

He suggested checking out Mr. Burdick's house. Isn't that sweet.

Perhaps he could host a city council, "blight party" and all members could inspect each others properties. City Council members should remain bight-free.

I would like to suggest business etiquette classes for Mr. Boucher as well.

Here is a good read, that may be useful to him:

when do people who want to run for city council may start campaigning? so far, for a seat,(not billings seat) I have not heard anything official.

I want to start meeting with new candidates and hear what they have to say, because there is only one or two of the same ol that I support, other than that I would like to see new faces and learn about what they'll be bringing.
I'm as eager as "insight" the initial poster to know. oh, and PLEASE North Adams! don't get fooled by someone who campaigns a lot and at the end NOTHING, example: blackmer

Valid question--the answer is it all depends---usually new candidates will start earlier than the veterans---some of the latter do not have to do much of anything--newbies usually do---some will have coffee hours at a supporter's house- some a spaghetti dinner-- bake sales---newbies and lawn signs usually start earlier than veterans---in many respects the campaign doesn;t really get rolling until after Labor Day--name recognition is important---when I was running initially I went door to door most of the summer---good way to meet and greet and press the flesh as they say---but it's all up to the candidate---press releases are useful---alwaus used to be a "Campaign Corner" in the Transcript-- where campaign announcements and press releases could be printed-----Alcombright has excellent name recognition -- in spite of that he has been holding meet & greets and has a speghetti supper at the Legion Thursday the 28th----Barrett held one last week-----so for your question about Council---whenever---but I think it's important for newbies-- even with good name recognition to demonstrate that they want the position----you'll find someactivity at the island next to City Hall----candidates holding up lawn signs-- for the cars passing by---with two "open seats" this could be a wild year---chbpod

I've been told that someone that he will be officially announcing around June 1st. I had to swear to secrecy, so I can't say who, but he's on my list above.

I would NEVER vote for someone who has a lack of intelligence, grammar and attitude such as yourself. If I were you I would quit while your ahead. I think that a door greeter at Wal-Mart has more intelligence than you will ever have. Hit the books, then I will consider.

Daily Horoscope for February 22

Scorpio

Make sure you're not spending too much with regard to your lifestyle or the pursuit of pleasure. You may be so busy enjoying something that you don't notice that it's costing you the earth. Rein in the spending and keep a better balance with the budget. If you're having trouble with your children's spending, today's the day to crack the whip. If you're involved in extreme pursuits the risk of accident is high, so take extra precautions and double check your gear.
