Knotts Island person... I don't think you knew what was going on the last few years if you think they care about their employees... Tracey was famous for trying to make her employees feel less than human. She is extremely rude. There were three employees who just had babies within the last month and she didn't even have the decency to give them a heads up about looking for a new job. They knew they were loosing that place and didn't tell their employees until three days before it closed. Their employees had problems cashing their last few paychecks due to insufficient funds in Magnolias Bank account. Thankfully they were able to atleast cash those paychecks, even though it overdrafted Mags bank account. Your ignorance does not help anything. GROW UP!!!

KnottsIsland has not worked there recently I know because I know the people that did work there recently and I also know none of them would be defending them right now. So question this Captin (probably David Homes) Is it ok to what has happened to these employees would you like the reputation that they have right now would you do this to your fellow man employees that thought of you as mom and dad? The Holmes have been pretending to have more than they do and I think they should keep pretending and pay their employees.

I agree 100% that the Holmes should keep pretending (and stay out of the Ghent Bars spending money that isn't theirs). My only thought on your post is - can you REALLY imagine Tracey as a mother figure????? AHHHHHHHHHH.(well, a "mommy" figure anyway. Mother does have a ring).

This story wasnt meant to bash on David and Tracey. It was put out there to make it known what has happened and hopefully help us ex-employees find a way to get paid for our time. They had been very good to me while i was working for them and I thought they were better people than to leave us high and dry. When things get tight for me, i quit going out spending money and take care of what bills need to be paid. I have been involved in restaurants closing before and the first thing to be taken care of was the employees. Without them the remaining days of business would cease to exist. What made me mad was we were expecting final paychecks, and instead received a letter saying they were sorry but would be glad to offer a reference. While a reference is fine and dandy, it is something that should be earned not traded for wages. What the letter should have read is that we are in a lot of debt right now and it may take some time to pay everybody, but were working on it. I am only owed a small amount of money compared to what others are owed, and I did not do an interview for myself. I did it for the people that could really use the money. I feel bad for them putting in long hours and hard work cooking, cleaning, and helping out those last few days promised that they would be compensated. That being said, i hope they decide to do the right thing.

Of course we can all live without playstations and nintendo 64's, but if thats what people want to spend their HARD EARNED MONEY on, then they have that right. Who are you to say what people can spend their money on. You can check and double check all you want to, but NO ONE GOT PAID!!! Those "youngsters" as you call them are definately not "NO GOOD"... they knew the place was closing, and continued to work there until closing day, not knowing they were not going to get paid for it. You obviously have NO HEART!!! Two fathers of newborns (both less than a month old)lost their jobs and were expecting their final paychecks to PROVIDE FOR THEIR FAMILIES!!! The most expensive thing they were planning to buy with their paychecks were DIAPERS!!! Thankfully they both have new jobs now, but thats no reason for them not to get paid for what they already worked you a** hole. They have bills to pay, and mouths to feed, and with their wives out on maternity leave, they are left wih a huge burden. Having a baby is stressfull enough, and loosing your job and not receiving your last paycheck can almost put you in a depression. So excuse me you friggin jerk for caring what happens to good HARD WORKING PEOPLE!!!

wow. i cant believe no one else saw this coming. david and tracy are worthless human beings, and deserve to have their restaurant shut down. as a former server there, i have also seen them engage in some extremely immoral and illegal activities. first, tracy falsified my(and im sure others) tax/income info. she would claim $600/week (yeah right) in tips for me, completely screwing up my taxes. ill have to check with the irs but im pretty sure thats a federal offense. also, the kitchen was disgusting! we used to chase cockroaches all over the place in the morning. d&t blamed it on the building being old. im sure the guests would understand. who remembers the moldy, rotting sink/ice bin in the server alley where everyones drinks were made? im still shocked that more ppl didnt get sick from that. i wont even talk about the basement, but if you ever wanted a fungus named after yourself thats the place to go. there was stuff growing down there that hasnt even been discovered by science yet. it wasnt all bad tho, d&t liked to play games too. i really liked the one where they would see who could drink the most bottles of wine in one sitting and then yell the loudest at the other one:) classy. they liked to play that one right out in the middle of the restaurant. they were very loving ppl too. so loving that they each had someone on the side. and im pretty sure they both knew the other was cheating and didnt care. wtf? what surprised me the most about that was the fact that they actually found other ppl that thought they were attractive! anyway, i feel bad for the employees that didnt get paid. d&t really should feel ashamed. there is a special place in hell for ppl like them. im just glad i got out b4 that ship sank.

So what's with people "feeling sorry" for them. Did they just wake up one day and discover that they were out of money???? How do you live in a multi million dollar house, dine, booze (and whatever else) constantly - and suddenly NOT have enough money to even make a one week payroll. And how did they get away with not paying city taxes since FEBURARY.
You do NOT just one day, run out of money. They are either incredibly stupid, or they've got assets stashed elsewhere. Hopefully something will turn up to at least pay those employees......
One thing is for sure. They are totally without shame.

David and Tracy are nothing but cheap christmas trash. Ignorant, lazy, racist and hateful, they deserve everything they are going through and more. I used to work for them a long time ago, and I too have seen illegal, immoral, and despicable behavior from both of them (especially Tracy, a she-devil if there ever was one).
Their friends were the motliest crew of roadkill rednecks I have ever seen, all of whom seemed to have dropped out of school in the fifth grade. The good news is, you reap what you sow, and it must hurt them to know their dirty laundry is flapping in the wind for all to see. Appearances are important to them (they seemed totally unaware of how trashy they appear), and they are finally revealed as the liars and cheats people who worked for them knew they were.
I feel really sorry for the people who haven't gotten paid. I doubt they ever will.
