What is a pea-shake house?

So what he had a gun in his boot?
That's not illegal; it's just Liberal anti-gun bias that adds nothing to the story.

Well, it appears that the "House" (State) did not get its cut and this is what happens!
Pay Mitch - or else!!!

Ok, Pea-shakes are harmless but are played with pure luck. Then poker, a game of skill is harshly dealt with when people get busted for playing. To me the two are extremely different.
Poker Clubs, Lounges and Rooms should be legalized and the winnings taxes.
When one enters the establishment they will have to show Id and fill out a form that is entered into a state database and a "license" is issued to the player that is to be used every time and place he/she plays. This database keeps tabs on the winnings, losing and taxes collected. Everytime the person buys chips it is entered into the database and when he/she checkouts the amount over the initial buy is entered and taxed. The establishment collects the tax right then and there. Enters the amount collected and at the end of the month is sent to the state. The person will receive a receipt at that time for their records and a year end report is sent to the person showing how much was spent, won and taxed.
The only reasons poker is illegal is it's hard to keep track and tax winnings. This idea solves this problem. If a player is caught playing outside a licensed establishment then they are charged with the felony. If an establishment fails to pay the state the collected taxes then it is closed and the owners charged with a felony. Just a thought.
I'm not the best poker player but could get better if I was able to play more, for fun that is. lol Poker is a game of skill and yes the luck of the cards help but where else can you fool or bluff someone out of the hand with a 7 2 off suit? The way one can make someone believe they are beat or the way someone reads or watches a person to see if he or she is bluffing is skill. 90% of poker is just that, skill. No different then a good politician selling the world to us making us believe they are the one to vote for.
Legalize poker!

Jeff wrote: What? How is this any different from the peashake houses the authorities allow to operate with impunity? Let me guess, these illegal gamblers are white, right? I guess you don't recall the numerous articles about the pea shake house being raided and shutdown. Duh, thats what all of the press was about.

Yeah, this is a real joke of a double standard.
It wouldn't be bad if we could build a boat or casino in central Indiana and didn't have to drive to French Lick to play, but then we might all be resigned to burn in the fire of the afterlife. I'm glad the social conservatives are here to protect us from that. God knows what might happen if free will existed in Indiana.

They should have knew it was coming. They send out daily emails to the whole world about the daily tournaments. They should have also known that since the city shut down a few pea shake houses that they would HAVE to shut down a few gambling houses run by whites. Its funny, when the forums where about the pea shake house being closed and the policeman altering the police report all of you where saying "YES YES its about we close these places" and blasting illegal gambling. Now that the shoe is on the other foot you want to play the race card. They were busted because they were doing something illegal not because they are white.

the only reason that particular room got busted is because the owner called the cops about getting robbed last week. it was just a matter of time before the cops rolled in.

It is more of the fact, the State isn't receiving it's fair share. And you are taking away from the casino's.

Well well well, Monroe "Sweet Pea" Gray has certainly got the juice! You bust his pea shake and he's gonna get some poker games busted.
The level of corruption in this town is pathetic. World class city? Hardly.

Why didn't they report that since they got robbed last week. They have had a paid Metro cop at the door carding everybody all nite long. What a joke, LMAO!!! This was a nice establishment, I blame Mitch for this, not allowing a casino in indy.

The name of the state trooper should have also been released. Why was he not named. He broke the law the same as the others.

Being a pro player most people don't understand that these places are a there because people like to gamble. Sure there is a certain criminal element, however I have played with some very public people as well as the average Joe just looking for some excitment. These places don't extend credit to people like the casinos do! So just let them be.
