Um, isn't the ordinance concerning NEW video lottery places? Not existing ones? Seems to me that the existing establishments would be sort of "grandfather-ed" in.. I believe the people at the church know what their building will be beside... So, your argument really doesn't make sense.

You are right it is for NEW Video lottery places. With the exception for Castaways who was aware of the 2 week exemption period when NO ordinance was in effect so they could get their video lottery.

No effort was made to let any other business in town know about the exemption period of two weeks. But why would they because the 2 week exemption was for Castaways only. And this was done by Chuck Boggs of River Valley Properties BOY Dave Casebolt now Mayor for Castaways owner.

I would say that Casebolt has people or that are going to be members of this new church and made his campaign very worthwhile at election time it is a part of the Maranatha Fellowship Church in St. Albans a former minister named B.J Roberts that is heading up the church. If you can remember there were 2 large 4x8 Casebolt for mayor signs on the vacant property and no For Sale signs (seems odd that was it could already maybe sold) before the election .I am sure that Roger House has made it very worth while to somebody for the city of Nitro for this purchase and to permit a church right next door to his video lottery businesses at the bowling alley’s so that he could sell the property that has been dead for the last 4 years. I guess they all think that there above the law it the right price is paid concerted citizens need to take action what they don’t realize that both parties are ina zoning violation is the kind of home cooking The City of Nitro building department yes man Ron King and the Mayor Casebolt are going to do we want have a chance in the next 4 years.

They were the same church that were going to purchase the old Fas Check was what I was told a few months ago but instead bought the old Crown Poantiac building

It is strange that the Fas-Chek building stood empty for years then after Casebolt is elected it is sold!! I wonder if River Valley Properties was involved in the sale of that building. If Mr. King is doing his job he will not allow permits for either building!!! Do your job Mr. King!!!

Ron King has a hard time doing his job he will not issue any building permits for any construction un less the plans has a State of West Virginia registered architect stamp or a registered engineers stamp on the plan and then he has to send them to a outside source plans reviewer before a permit is issued what good is a building inspector if he can not even read a set of building plans again he is not doing his job and being a case bolt yes man

Could it be that these buildings sat empty because of hard economic times...??

As for harassment oh yes they would. John Young is in the inner circle and now 2 harassment suits against the city. Mayor Casebolt has also been named along with his crony Jim McKay all named in harassment suit against the city.

So if you have a complaint go talk to the dumb ass elected officials who never think past the vote to what will happen when it is enacted.

Ron King is no yes man to anyone. He does the job he has by the book. If that means plans have to be sent off for approval then so be it.

In fact there is not one person in Nitro with those credentials. But isn't Ron King getting those credentials. It is not something you get overnight after attending a one day seminar.

Again, elected officials with no ability to think past the one vote or issue in front of them.

Maybe city council should remove the control of the building department from the fire dept.

There is a contract with the fire department. Council can not so easily make the transition.

This is another example of the dumb ass elected officials not thinking past the current vote and the long term effects of their decisions.

I just said that the credentials to approve plans is not something anyone can get in an overnight class. It requires specialized training. No iam not a not an elected Nitro Official seems like thats all you want to blame the questions goes back to why are the violating there ownn zoning law by putting a church next to a lottery retailer

I agree with NHS83, that was irresponsible for the previous council to put the building department under the fire department and then for council to approve an agreement that keeps it there. That means Casebolt lovin King will be in that position as long as he wants.
