30 seconds over Washington:
I'm a little confused. 1) We have a battered auto industry (GM, Chrysler, probably Ford) and we offered a cash bonus to new car buyers that went mostly to Japanese, Korean and German manufacturers.??? Who benefits from that one, besides the banks and finance companies? 2) The procedure was to destroy the engines in otherwise good-running used cars that could have been discounted and sold overseas or domestically to our own poor. Who filed that flight plan? 3) The cost to the environment to manufacture a new car vs extending the life of a used car is 2nd grade math. So apart from stroking our "friends" at Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen and Hyundai, what exactly was the purpose of this operation? |
