Skate Park Stirs Controversy

hurry up and build that skatepark cuz i need a place to skate!!!

give more info to the people here.
what is there gonna be there?
are there professionals building this that have experience in building skateparks?
how much money how big where what when why all of that good stuff.

I am a mom of two skaters. It's rediculous that you argue over locations. Just build the darn thing. Everyone acts like these kids have a critical contagious disease or something. Attitudes will change in a snap when this becomes an Olympic event. You all complain that these kids are trouble makers or worse. I say that is slander and maybe you should try it..you may like it!!! Now build the darn park already!!!!!~

I agree with that mommy. Skaters can be very nice people, like me!!!
And I would really like it if this skatepark happened soon, please hurry and don't be so languid/lackadaisical/lethargi c about it.

Lori is obviously one of the idiots that dumps her kids where she can and picks them up way late after dark like a lot of momma's at the Nicholasville Skate Park....Its open now and there have been a break in assosiated with the park...graffitti....the amount of durgs hast went up ten times and lets not forget the 24 year old pedophiles and drug dealers that now hang out with her kids. Not that she gives a crap....she now has free babysitting!

There used to be one call to 911 for Mingo lake per month but now the skate park is open there has been 22 calls in two weeks..Figure it out you idiots!

Wait till the first kid dies of an overdose or stabbing or shooting. Like here in the Chicago area. Everyone will be soooo shocked!Don't think it can't happen there! It will sooner or later!

My apartment backs up to the skate park, and since it has opened, there are kids there all times of the night, several thefts have occured on my street, and I have personnally witnessed kids smoking weed....I no longer feel comfortable to even walk my dog in Mingo park. I really think there should be an enforced closing time, as well as more police patrol in the area.

You people kill me what the hell are these kids to do. Your so judgmental damn jus give em a place to hang and be adults and do your job supervise them my gawd why does everything come with so much bs when these kids have nothin at all to do see how that affects your crime rate. And Bob how bout you get to know someone personaly b4 you make such a statement I cannot see anything in Loris statement that makes her look like a idiot or that suggest she just dumps her kids anywhere. All I saw was a mother standing up for her kids and trying to get them a place to play. No wonder kids want to fight and destroy things look at what they learn from the adults that cant even hold a discussion on were a park should go without calling people childish names. Also in your statment you put blame on the nicholasville mothers dumping thier kids at state park are all those kids fatherless. Were is thier daddies and do they share the same blame as the mothers do for dumping thier kids off or are you a onesided man who see only your side of things.

You might feel differently if you had young children, or had been burglarized as I have since the opening of the park. I'm not trying to point fingers, judge, or misplace blame on parents or the kids that use the skate park......they have the right to enjoy the park as much as anyone elso....but their rights end where other's rights begin, and others shouldn't have to deal with vandalism, loiterism,theft, and drug use in a publically funded city park.

I agree with you. My thing is there are bad apples in anything but youve got to supervise these kids not take everything away because people are scared of the might happends there will allways be someone around to break the rules and ruin things for those that dont but you cant give up or take away to avoid that you stand up and fight for the right

No you didnt at all. I was adding that to otrhers that seems to be thier fix if there is a problem eliminate the aparent symtom not the cause no you statement did not have anything in it about taking away from the children
I speak up only cause of what i been through and seen. I was one of those troubled kids when i was a teen and it followed me till my late 20s. People donot misjudge these kids donot give up on them. But rather teach them and protect them. I myself suport anything that takes these kids off the street and put them in any kind of legal activity. Dont complain about them affect them allow this skate park and go give your time become a part of them. Its hard to steal from someone yopu care about. I know this

Hello Bety you seem to know alot about me. You do know that my children live with me and that my wife and I recieve no help from anyone to live our lives and raise our children. I donot know many Bettys so I donot think thats your real name. If youve the need to hide when you say things about me then there must be a reason maybe its that you cannot back up what you say .Yes I am on here alot it beats the hell out of hittin the bars or cruising round town drunk. As far as me selling drugs to children or anyone else please by all means tell me who. Think I said in a earlier post I was a troubled youth thats why i tryin to stand up for some of these kids I made mistackes in my past no denieing instead of bashing me for trying how bout you look at yourself see what you can change for the better. I dont know where the daddies are but I do see a lotta dads dumping their kids out there too just like Lori and the other mommies that dont have a clue.

I got 3 kids at University of Kentucky...All 4.0 GPA's and two already interning as doctors.

Guess I'm a bad daddy since I made my kids grow up responsible and not dumping them at skate parks at all hours on school nights. My kids worked from age 16 on..I DEMANDED THAT!...I paid their college in FULL!
They had to be at home at 9 PM on school nights and in bed by 11 PM .....yea I'm a bad daddy...How dare I not let my kids have a life like these other kids that run wild drinking and smoking crack at the skate park....now there is hypodermic syringes everywhere at Lake mingo....Crack Vials...broken glass from beer and liquor bottles.

I had a kid arrested the other day because he was selling dope in the park...14 years old and at midnight on a school night...And kids like that wonder why they cant spell on TOPIX when they grow up?!!

Dont rem calling you a bad dad. All Im sayin is instead of taking things away from these kids because of the bad one is if people would get involved and supervise then they would have a place to hangout and 7you copuld remove some of the bad ones.Only reason I asked were are the dads is because the one post said the moms dropping the kids off i just figured the blame went to both parents if the kids was unattended. Congratz on your childrens successes wished they all was like that.
