Tire Slashing 10 JAN 09 - many vehicles in Collings Lakes

We had a very large # of tires slashed @ aprrox 0145 hrs on 10 JAN 09.
Streets involved incl. Cedar Lake Drive between Wayne & Glenside, almost all of Glenside and from what I was able to see some of Queens.
Also, at least one vehicle was broken in to...
It will prob. continue until person(s) are found.
State Police are very concerned and will do their best to find the perps.

So far no. I did have my security camera on, but (reviewing the the VCR tape) it did not pick up the perp(s) due to darkness; they were outside my floodlight range - am upgrading to an IR camera and DVR soon. I do elex projects as a hobby and figure that going digital with IR cams & DVR will also benefit the greater welfare of the neighborhood as well as ourselves.
The SP do have fingerprints; picked them up on a neighbor's truck door.

Yeah, my wife was flying back the saturday it happened. Sorry to hear about that. She told me my father-in-law's truck got messed up pretty bad. I'm just glad no one was hurt. I hope they get the guy/guys that did it.

Is it true the SP believe the guy cut himself inside one of the trucks he broke into? I heard they found blood, enough so that they think a cut would be noticeable. Any truth to this?

Ex-Army; Sorry about your F-I-L's truck as well... we lost $400.00 for replacements. others lost more in $ terms.. and many are very concerned about the trends...

CCC; It is true that a perp cut himself.. I know the truck's owner and saw the damage/blood. Figure on finger and/or hand, and/or forearms cut(s)...

We'll try to organize a neighborhood watch.. about 3 of us in area look out for one another ... others don't bother to say hello or bother to ask why the police are on the scene.

Thanks for the info miesk6. Almost all of my neighbors found damaged tires this weekend on Queens Lane. 5+ houses at least.

I think our house got lucky because of the floodlights we left on all night.

Update; forgot that my wife found that the AAA service man (we called AAA to change tire w/spare) said he had 25 slashed/poked tires in the immediate area.
Only other home he was at, that we know of was next door.
Other folks I know/saw that had tires cut do did not call AAA..So add 9 more households to the 25.
Total so far is 34 including us; + your Queens.

We're adding more floods tomorrow... Our current set-up is for front and back entrances, soooo...

Will ck w/good guy (retired Philly Policeman) neighbor on State Police Sit. Update by Friday or soonest.
And, I think that the Police did try to get a fingerprint off of the truck that had driver's side window smashed w/blood on seat.

I live in Collings Lakes, and I'm pretty sure I know who did this, and I AM going to turn him in, but I need more evidence.
I need the help of our community...
start asking kids, the person that did this is 18 years old and hangs around younger kids. All of the kids around the area that it happened in know who did it. Put it this way, the kids are saying that he is going around braggin that he did this.
I have already called the state police in Buena Vista Twp.and gave them all the information that I know. Start asking questions to the kids...
I don't know alot about the investigation of the case, but from what I understand the fingerprints and blood the police have are NOT from the same person that slashed the tires.
I won't give up until this kid is put away, that I do promise to all the people that had to fix their tires Saturday.
Please post as much information as possible.

We are trying to determine the number of folks affected.

As you advised, often a perp will boast of their actions in school or around friends. The idiot that busted up our son's vehicle about 20 yrs ago did so at school; however one in the crowd listening was our next-door neighbor; our son's best friend.

I do live on one of the streets, but was not affected, there are reasons for that, now that I am pretty sure I know who it is.
I have made it my current mission to make sure that he does not get away with it, even if it means that I have to come out of the "UNKNOWN".
I must stay unknown right now, because if this kid knows I'm on to him, he is very capable of more than tire slashing.
My children are 5 years apart and one is no longer is school (graduated), and they both state that everyone knows this kid did it. Should I say almost every kid around here knows.
I would have never had a idea if it wasn't for my children, and if my kids reporting what they know to the police would lock him up, we would have already done that too..

I know every kid in this town and im not completly sure but im 99.9% sure who did it from what i hurd it was a kid (20) named jimmy s (all ima say) and his lil hoodlooms that did it theyve did alot of other stuff around here and every kid knows this

I also know Jimmy S., he lives on the other side of the lakes. If someone is 99.9% sure that it's someone, you should come forward to the police and tell what you know.
I have a notebook with names of all the kids I talked to in this neighborhood (and still adding) that all have said "Joe" did it. I also want to add that I talk to these kids alone (not w/ their friends around) and all the stories match.

Well, first off that kid "Joe" (has a verry bad rap around here and well deserved) and he did do alot of "stuff" around here as far as the dam's go(and some signs too) and "family/car troubles" and "drug arrests" and he is (18) and hangs around with alot of "younger-skateboarders " like the one unknown said....and he is a small possibablilty, but....This kid "Jimmy s"(on the other side)(westside u can say)(20) is known by EVERYBODY in this town mostly because of all the drugs he sells and beings he grew up here,but he also has ALOT of good friends that know alot of other stuff about whats been going on around here and none of them would EVER drop a name on him. Now first off im "pretty" sure "jimmy s" and his lil hoodlums did this (like smashing a nice green car up with a rock while they were driving about a year or so ago) but like i said im not 100% sure but im close enough. Second i wouldnt come to the police just to tell them "what i heard" and Third im sure he'll get caught sooner or later because what i heard from ALL the kids is he did it and someone will come foward...P.S. "Jimmy s" is cool with everybody around here and him and all his friends know "Joe A" did alot of stuff he aint get caught for so im 99.999% sure they will all try to pin it on him and come foward with other stuff they know beings he has a bad rap. to the post ahead of me i think your on to something
