I live in Newtonsville and found out just the other day that we have a police department, again, but only sometimes. Apparently, the people working there are hardly ever there! I asked what happens when they are all gone and was told the sheriff takes over.
I was wondering if the place is only open sometimes because of the economy? And if the sheriff readily takes over when nobody from our town is working then why are we paying these guys and for the cars and equipment? Why waste the money when we can get it for free? Is this kind of things happening everywhere? |

Nevermind about this. I didn't realize there were more articles about the town. Seems like there are other problems.

But the new chief getS to have a badge that says he is the the BIG CHIEF EVEN IF HE DOESN'T WORK.
GREAT DEAL FOR HIM, BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL PAY HIM TO WEAR A BADGE. |

I'm still waiting for any person to give a single instance of what valuable service Newtonsville provides to its residents?
Well?
did the village of newtonsville even look into the background of this supposed police chief.....what a loser...he owes everybody and their brother money...he signs a land contract on a house and has improvement work done on it and then skips out leaving the former owner with liens... all he wants to do is collect welfare and PLAY big shot police chief. he is a JOKE
I thought his wife made all kinds of money with a great job and she was able to support her househusband. Don't you have to be out looking for jobs a few times a week to be able to get welfare?
his wife don't work. she is a welfare mama with ten kids....newtonsville didn't investigate this guy very well at all

This guy came highly recommended from Wayne Township. Why do a background check? I've been told the whole thing was Liz Smith's idea and I'm sure the husband agreed and I don't think the man is capable of independent thought. Plus I'm sure some comments were made about how they needed to write plenty of tickets to bring up the bank account. I'm sure one particular person will be happy to start getting that well deserved bonus from cash payouts again.
why do a background check? this guy is police chief...in charge of pressing charges against others....if they had done a background check and run a credit report there is no way they would have hired him. he would be the perfect person to be bribed.
even if you get a highly recommended person apply for a job you should still run a background check and credit report and talk to everyone he has worked for. he is in a position of authority. you get what you pay for with a dollar a year police chief though. |
I looked into the thing's you've posted:This guy was never terminated. He doesn't get unemployment. He took this position for a dollar a year only for the first year then I was told he is getting paid.He hasn't written nearly as many ticket's as the last officer's what he has done is get equipment, vehicle's donated to the village police department as well as participated in the toy's for tot's program and I even believe he was instumental in putting together a Community Christmas Gathering for the children and their parent's. I know some people that would love to see this man fail but jeolousy does not breed the truth fact's are fact's. I believe you have something against him maybe you just weren't his type I can see why nobody likes hypocrits. Just get your fact's straight before you start throwing stone's Miss I can't keep a man. |

I drove through Newtonsville today, WOW it seem's like a nice peaceful village this guy really is cleaning it up no more burn-out's in the intersection no more drug deal's on the corner I saw the new car he got donated it looked nice this guy is doing a great job maybe thing's are looking up for the village since he took office.

There's a rumor that the police department is going to pass out gift's to the kid's that live in the village. I also heard that the police department is trying to get the ball field fixed so team's can play this spring.Getting the citizens of the village involved seem's to be a priority for this guy.If he does a great job for the villlage then he will be rewarded.

I think the new police chief is doing a great job. He has cleaned this town up alot, he is very concerned about the residents and there children, not like the village council. They want to go around and be everybodys goverment and they think that they can tell everybody what to do, When you do try to get people around the village to come out and do something you never see any of the council members getting involved. Everybody talks about the police sitting up at coogans all the time maybe they ought to complain about the fire dept sitting up there all day long. how long does it take to eat a cheeseburger, well the looks of all of them maybe they need to move around a little more and quit using my tax paying dollars to run around in the fire equip, and eating all day

Miss Can't keep a man???? I am kinda glad I can't keep a man cause I am no Miss... You need to get your facts straight! I am glad he is going good things for Newtonsville. Too bad he can't do the same for his kids...family...friends...He is living a LIE. |

I was just in Newtonsville.(11/26/09)The place dosen't look much differant than it did years ago.Looks like the only thing that has changed is the people's names. What is this new cop's name? Is he form Newtonsville or one of the other small towns around there.

True, Mr. Casey was never terminated. That being said, do you think that being told to resign from a job or face termination and maybe even criminal charges is a quality characteristic of a police officer? It seems to be a pattern with the police officers that the village employs. The reason is that because quality police officers find other places to serve because they offer a competitive salary, something Newtonsville will never be able to accomplish without a strong change in attitude and policy. I read the article in the paper regarding the "Community Christmas Gathering". Wayne Township Fire Chief Moulden's name was mentioned quite prominently as the creator and organizer of the gathering. I saw no mention of Mr. Casey or any other person from Newtonsville to explain how they have contributed. Maybe Mr. Casey just wasn't available for comment that day? "...jealousy does not breed the truth fact's are fact's." So far this is your most intelligent comment, and the only thing that has been correct. The fact is this: Newtonsville does not have a grand tax base to support general services to the residents, let alone a productive police department. Mr. Casey may have worked for $1 for his first year of employment and may now be getting a paid salary. And for arguments sake we will assume he is the best police officer ever to walk the earth. Regardless, he is only one person and Newtonsville cannot support a viable police force without funding. The funding comes from an avaiable tax base which we've already established doesn't exist, or from writing traffic citations. Which do you think will happen? |
Furthermore, I drove through the intersection at the apartments twice today while traveling to work. I watched a drug deal while I was at the intersection. I went into the store and when I came back out the same dealer who I've seen many times was at another vehicle promoting his business. When I came home he was there again. It seems like he put in more hours of work today than I? When I drove past the police station I saw no one there. I saw no police cars out and about. Maybe Mr. Casey is doing a great job since he took office, but how good of a job is he doing when he isn't there? |

And finally to your last ignorant set of comments - I believe you first demonstrated your ignorance several days ago blasting everyone for making comments without fact? "Just get your fact's straight before you start throwing stone's Miss I can't keep a man." But it seems you have a short term memory issue being that the following day you began a posting with "There's a rumor..." and followed that with "I also heard..." A fact is verifiable with evidence, not heresay. I hope these rumors you present are true and I wish the best for the residents despite the intentions of the elected officials. That being said, if the village cannot support viable services how will they pay to restore the ball field? Through donation? From who, or what business? Getting the citizens involved in the protection of the community is a worthy endeavor. However, the citizens also need to be able to call those employed to serve them when law enforcement services are needed. Who will they call when Mr. Casey goes home for the day? The Clermont County Sheriff's Office? And if so, why bother to have the Newtonsville Police in the first place? Besides, before developing community programs Mr. Casey should focus on making his police department available when a resident requests assistance. Community programs are great, but serve no purpose when the police department is working bankers hours. After reading your comments and being especially appreciative of this one, I too "...can see why nobody likes hypocrits." Yourself included. |

You know your comment's break my heart I hate the fact that you seem to think that the only thing Newtonsville has to do to maintain a police force is create more taxes. When in reality you should know there is other funding that's available. You do speak well for a blogger, God I hope your not the guy who threw a fit at every township meeting about there police force and then lost the election because everyone remembered you.If so you should be wondering where that $200,000 is coming from for the new fire department. If your not a politicition you should be.Now let's get down to business. First I was only blasting you and concerned citizen several day's ago. The truth is niether of you live in Newtonsville. Secondly the fire department event is not called the community christmas gathering you embasil also the department is a part-time department I'm sure you would like to see Chief Casey there 24/7 but unfortunatly that's not the way it work's The department was started in July of this year and to date they have three officer's. When these officer's are not on duty the sheriff's department handle's the call's for the village as they do in other village's. Hey I've got an idea how about you go down and apply I heard they were hiring oh, I forgot their not hiring rookies or idiot's guess that leave's you out. I'm done defending a man that need's no defense. If you have anything on him criminaly, ethically or morally take it to the council meeting and present it play your card's or stop bluffing you seem to be all talk and no backbone. Take a stand against this man if you don't like him, take him to council. with all the crap you say he's done surely they have to let him go or is it that you just get your rock's off by running your mouth anonomously.
