Does anyone have any pictures of the old Craig Beach Amusement Park? My family owned property in Lake Milton in 40s, 50s and 60s and I am trying to assemble a memory album for family. Mayn great summers spent on the lake, and at the park.
Willing to duplicate and / or purchase pictures. Please e mail me if you have any: phabina@comcast.net |

In the 1970's there was located near Lake Milton, a nursing home. I am searching for information concerning this nursing home. I have located info which has me to believe that my uncle died at this home, and had lived there for a long time as a middle-aged man; until his death.(according to his death cert.) Could anyone tell me how to go about locating his records? I have hit a dead end in all of my attempts so far.
Thank You. reginaszekely@roadrunner.com |

I have lived in Lake Milton a long time my family had the penny arcade and the fudge stand in Craig Beach.
Where the condos are off NE River Road now is where the old staking ring uses to be a lot of people remember that place. Just down from Wesfalls Restaurant were Marge and Dons Lodge a tavern and restaurant below that was these tiny cabins to rent this was on Mahoning Ave. The big blue bridge that was across the lake was put there by floating down the river from now known as Shillings Mills Were S&S the local grocery store is that use to be Zimmerman’s Drug store and store. The laundry mat use to be called the Pink Place |

My grandparents lived on Forest Ave.in Lake Milton from the early 40's to 1960. They owned the "Bowling Alley, Ski Ball & String Games" in Craig Beach Park and my brother, sister & I spent every summer during our childhood there. We would work in the park and enjoy the benefits - free rides, good french fries (w/vinegar), frozen custard...all the good things in life at the time. Wouldn't have traded it for the world!!! |

Anyone remember the Watsons - Klingensmith - Sickle - Anderson families? Found several families that had places there that were from Pittsburgh - some of us actually went to the same schools but hadn't met yet! My "Uncle Jack" was the town Marshall for a number of years at Craig Beach. We enjoyed the use of several boats for fishing & water skiing & late night cruises with people named Berberich & Klein - remember when they broke the news about an Interstate coming through and how upset the locals were at the time. Glad they finally made it a State Park.

My family went to Lake Milton/Craig Beach every summer when I was very young. I rode on the merry go round every night..and only one horse..I named "Peggy". I still have her picture. I often wondered what became of her. I remember the rides, the lake, frozen custard and french fries with vinegar. My family loved it there and I have many fond and happy memories of it there.

To Paul Habina
Contact the Milton State Park and talk to the head ranger. She put me on to several people earlier this year....but to save my life right now, I can't find any of that information. There is a man in Youngston who has much information on Craig Beach and Craig Beach Park. I have saved your email address and will contact you...if I find the information I have. Shelly Mehrenber is my sister...and YES...we have many fond memories of Lake Milton. |

I am the sister of the two previous people writng comments on Craig Beach/Lake Milton. My father rented a big house every summer from one of his customers. It slept 14 people and we always filled it. Their name was Gardner. We had wonderful times there, especially at the beach. There was a large shiny raft type board in the water that we would all sit on and end up in the water when it would tilt from too much weight. Each evening we would go to the amusement park and "pull the string" and always got the fries with the vinegar. We would play the juke box in the beer garden where "Skip" worked. His wife Mary worked the souvenir stand. Many good times without spending much money. A couple of years we were lucky enough to hit "Community Day". For kids it was a magic day as everything in the park was free and they handed out dixie cups to everyone, also free. We took our parents back for a day in 1998 as part of their 60th anniversary celebration. Many good memories of our childhood.

Ik know for a fact that the nursing home is there. I was looking at the land that the onld amusement park was located and parked in from of the home. I can't say for sure it is still a nurcing home, or converted to just a boarding house, but it is located at the corner of Craig Drive and Beech Lane, off of Grandview. The old amusement park was right asscross the street. Hope this helps...

I also grew up at Lake Milton and remember Craig Beach Park very well. We went there at least one a week in the summer. I also skated at the old skating rink. Does anyone remember when the park closed??? |

What great memories... my mother worked in the front stand of the park so I prety much lived there growing up. I went skating at the rink every Friday night and sometimes Wed and/or Sunday. S&S was a market even before Zimmermans and the name started with an "M". Marge and Don's had teh BEST pepper steak sandwiches and the Pink Place had the best frozen custard in the world.
Yes there were 2 nursing homes. One was Lake Milton Manor and the other Delps Nursing home. Delps was behind the firehall.
