So last night I decided to take my family to watch the championship games at CCHS. I was greatly dissappointed that we didnt get to see 4 WHOLE periods of good ball playing. I understand that Edgemont didnt want to lose considering they already had the shirts printed up. On the other hand wouldnt you much rather lose or win knowing you played the whole game and showed your talent the entire time? I mean seriously you cheat the 8th grade players from the opposing team out of their last elementary game. I would be ashamed if my child was a pu$$y Panther. I do believe that the outcome could have been the same had they just played ball. But they showed their true colors last night. they will do anything to win even if it means Not playing ball. Those Falcon Girls should be very proud of their accomplishments. They didnt let the pu$$ panthers run away with it. That sissy ball cost the boys their game last night which was karmas way of evening the field.

NEXT year lets play ball and quit being SCARED!

And for the record I had no child or family member or even a friends child on that court last night. So no need to say that I was for this team or that. I just wanted to watch basketball.

I completely agree with spectator. However, I know people on both teams so it was hard to pull for one over the other. That is up until you turn basketball into keep away. That is a shame that there is coaches out there playing like this. They are suppose to be leaders, and that just teaches the players it is alright to do anything to win. No matter how cheap it is. I think also it could have had the same outcome had they had only played the game. I hope the coaches are happy that they made a group of seventh and eighth girls cry over a basketball game. That shows true leadership. Both teams obviously worked very hard to be in that position, and to let 2:00 change the whole season is crazy. What will Edgemont remember? Another championship win. What will all the other schools remember? Edgemonts true colors. Maybe next year instead of having shirts already printed, they should have new jerseys printed with a big yellow stripe on them. Wooo, another championship, we made a bunch of 12 and 13 year old girls cry!!! If you want to know how that feels ASK YOUR BOYS. But, I guess since they were in the locker room so long, they were just getting to hear about how great they was, and how it was somebody elses fault they lost. I guess also that Scottie wasn't teary eyed when he came out of the locker room, I'm sure that just during all the hugging and celetrating the good season he probably got a finger poked in his eyes. Hey coaches, wake up, realize that in a few years only you, and a few parents will remember who won what championship in what year. This years Edgemont players will be stuggling to make new friends because everyone else already knows how they will be treated if they do become their friends. I mean if your taught to be like this at a young age, what is your chances of ever changing. Congradulations Edgemont ALL YOU HAVE IS YOU!! OH, about the shirts already printed for the boys. Maybe you could call Smoky Mountain, they would probably more that happy to get some new rags to clean their toilets with!!!

OK your comment was just lame. They are all kids. Edgemont just lost all their good players and it could be years before they can win again. So quit being hateful. I agree with the holding the ball like that. But it didnt work for the boys. The girls Barely pulled it off. But it is sad because even those girls probably wont get a win like that again. Kids have to learn to lose in life too. That makes them better. SO the boys need to see they will be better people for it. and are you sure that they already had shirts. surely they didnt? how do you know that is not just a rumor? I cant see the administration at their school allowing such disrespect to happen?????

if im not mistaken though, edgemont won last year too.sounds like a jealousy issue to me.those girls were ahead by several points and less than 2 minutes on the clock.its also about using your head, and that is legal for a reason.they did not cheat to get ahead.they got ahead by "playing ball" and used their heads at the end to stay ahead. maybe instead you should teach your kids to congratulate the winners instead of being sore losers because those are the bitter children who have the trouble making friends.if that was done at every game,or a long period of time on the clock, i would understand the bitterness. if the opposing team had the chance in the same situation, they would have made the same move and the same parents on here bashing edgemont would be proud of that move.its a sport for the kids so let them enjoy it and have fun, instead of parents bad mouthing kids and ruining it for all of them.the kids are being more mature about it than their parents!!!

All centerview had to do was to make a quick foul and although edgemont would have gotton a foul shot, centerview would have gotton the ball back. They wasted over 1 minute off the clock before they finally fouled...ITS CALLED DEFENSE!!!

Centerview about won. Edgemont is not as good as I had thought. I was in shock that Centerview was about to beat them. But they are a good team. The boys will be better people like dude up there said for losing. The girls will have to learn to lose too. But they will now cause after seeing centerview on them, I see that people will be just as good. And wat the crap with da shirts??? Fo real???

I am amazed at the people who get on here and talk about basketball like they know something, when in fact they dont know jack! Using up the clock is an excellent and often used move to win a game. If Centerviews coach had any clue about coaching basketball at all he would have sent a girl up to try and tie up the ball or foul. Either one would have resulted in a change of possesion and another chance for his girls to try and score. If you people even watched a little bit of college or pro basketball on tv you would realize how well coached the Edgemont girls and boys teams are. Those girls can not only beat the stuffing out of any team in this county, they can go elsewhere and do it too! If you are a parent of a girl who plays basketball and you want her to actually get better then have her at the aau tryouts Monday night, have her coach do summer ball this year. It takes hard work and dedication, not showing up a couple times a week to throw the ball around and then whine cause you got out classed and out coached! Oh and as for next year, you do realize the entire 7th grade squad of girls at E'mont dominated nearly every single year of rec ball they played in right? So I wouldnt be hoping to get any different results next year! As for the boys, they didnt get out played or out coached. They had an off night and Smoky boys got lucky. If half the shots they missed had fell you all would be on here whining not crowing! No way Smoky coulda beat em if Hood and Cordell had got hot! So all you basketball experts can go back into hiding til next season, let your kids lay on the couch all summer and our kids will be putting in the hard work that will pay off again next year!

First let me say that do you think anyone at Edgemont or especially their coaching staff loses any sleep over what you think. I am sure you are not in there with those coaches as the work with those teams. I will tell you one thing I bet there isn't another team that works any harder that those kids are done. I don't necessary agree with the kids being worked as hard as they are but it has proved to make them better players. What they did at the tournament last night was good coaching. If Centerview was so concerned about it they should have played better defense. However did you see when Lady Falcon players came out to get them, they took the ball in and scored. It is called a coaching stragedy, and weather you or I agree with it they won that is why they are not only champions but 3 time champions. So weather I agree or you agree, they seem to know what they are doing. One more thing, why would they not coach so their kids are not crying at the end. Your comment makes no sence. Edgemont kids have feelings to. Lady Falcons are a good team, but Lady Panthers were better. They went 19 - 0. How many more times do they need to beat Lady Falcons to prove they had the better team this year. Next Year may be a whole different story. The kids will be ok and will be friends just like they were before the game. Adults could learn from both those teams. Take a Lesson.

Don't worry your kid probably could never do what it takes to be a Panther. It isn't easy. Hard, very hard work, dedication, determination, sweat, blood, and tears are all the traits of a Panther. I didn't mention Lazy so we all won't have to worry about your child wearing Purple. Lady Falcons you are a Great team, Congrats Lady Panthers and Smoky Bears, two well deserving teams with excellent programs.

YOU NO WHAT ALSO IS DISAPOINTING PARROTTSVILLE BOYS SET AND BOOED AND MADE COMMENTS ALL WEEK, GRASSY MADE T-SHIRTS LAST YEAR AND WAS WEARING THEM BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT WAS OVER??? YET EDGEMONT IS ALWAYS THE BAD TEAM. NOBODY LIKES WINNERS! IT WAS THE SAME WAY WHEN NEWPORT GRAMMAR DOMINATED FOR YEARS, EVERYBODY CRYED. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WRITE STUFF ON HERE IS PEOPLE WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE SPORT. LOOK BACK AT COACH DEAN SMITH, NOBODY CALLS HIM SCARED. HE RAN THE CLOCK OUT FOR YEARS AND ALWAYS WON.

You must have not been paying attention. They started the "hot potato" game at near 4 minutes left. At that time the score was very close. It was 2 or 4 point game at that point. I know for sure it was near 4 because I looked at the clock as soon as they started that crap and made comments to those around me as to why they were starting that already. It would have been a worthy strategy had it been done at around a minute or less but not with nearly 4 on the clock.

Also I didnt see Centerview players being bitter. I saw them upset at the fact that they were cheated out of a chance to play fair n square. Win or lose! After all Centerview Lady Falcons did win the SPORTSMANSHIP Award.

Again I had no dog in this fight. Edgemont was my Alma Mater but I was not proud of that fact last night.

You seem to think you know what you are talking about. Do you also know that my children play every sport there is to play in the county? I am one of the few that teach my child to win humbly and lose with gracefully. I actually removed my child from a team over the summer due to the fact that our coaches and other parents had a meltdown when they lost for the first time that season. Children have to experience a loss or know how to handle it when it happens. And I do believe thats what they were afraid of last night. The Lady Falcons had a very good chance of pulling off the upset last night had the game been played as it was meant to be.

shut up already! you all can set and type crap out and judge people. that the problem with sports in this county now, parents don't know when to be quiet. we showed sportsmanship all year, we shook hands every game with every kid, we provided drinks and food every home game and i love every kid on every team and they will all tell you that. i would do for any of them what i do for the emont girls. i get tired of being questioned and judged. get over it! we won, its over. i guarantee since we used the clock somebody will be a copy cat and do it next year, wait and see. leave it alone it is over!
