If the person was serious, why warn them to clear the building? What would be the point of intent?

It was so scary. It was awful though because my dad was lied to when he called. They said it was a "drill". i do not think a large amount of cops entering a school with AK-47s is a drill. We were all terrified.

Well i go to Menchville and let me tell you that its one thing to have to go to a school because of a threat but its another when you have to get held up and most everyone gets scared and stuff. Well parents dont want there children going to a school like that! So yeah.

I have a child at MHS and I grow more concerned each year. In this case, I know tracing a call back to a cell is relatively easy - how long before the caller is caught?

I'm a student at MHS, and sure it's scary but if the guy was serious, why would he call the school? There have been so many negative things going on at school this year, and now this just as the last week is approaching, I just don't get why people would do this kind of stuff to teenagers. I mean, we're just a bunch of kids. I text my mom to let her know and she says she is getting really worried about MHS, but she has every right to be. It's just really sad that things have gotten this bad and ignorant people have to ruin what was once one of the best schools in the area.

i think it is wrong to send the kids out to their cars then back into the school then back to their cars and what they didn't tell is that 3 kids got arrested

I am a student here and I want to know why they did not even tell us we were in lock down or call the parents until right now as I'm typing this.(4:07.pm). If there is a serious threat at my school I would like to know seeing how I'm in the building!!!!! It's just that alot of things have happend this year at this school. It's my first year here and my parents are fed up with the school and things that go on in it.

What amazes me beyond this senseless act is the absolutely horrid verbage and sentence structure of the above responders. What in the world are they teaching these skulls of mush? Just read the above comments and you can easily tell which are from students. This is the workforce of the future? PLEASE - LET'S OPEN THE BORDERS!

There are alot of sick little punks out there that get a thrill of feeling powerful. Wait until your wrists are encased in steel, how powerful will you feel then.

It terrifing as a parent to see police everywhere, knowing your child is in the school, and you can't get to them. When asking one of the security officers if it was a drill,(which was told to another parent when she called the school), all he did was snicker and say "they're getting ready to be let out of school." Watching this situation was horrible, especially when you see a fight in the middle of the street between a police
officer and a possible parent or student. I heard both, but wasn't close enough to see who it was.

It is sad that anyone would even make a threat, serious or not. I also agree with Elephant, the spelling and word usage from students is deplorable!

Yeah, I'm also a student at Menchville, and while thinking about it afterwards is relatively scary, during the lockdown fear was the last thing on any of the students in my classroom's minds. A security guard came to the door and told us we were on lockdown, and didn't tell us what for, therefore neither my teacher, nor my classmates took it seriously. We became somewhat aware of the situation only after our teacher was browsing the internet and saw the news story on this site.

Also, to Denise, the fight was between 1 police officer and 1 student. I watched after dismissal as the officer pushed one of the kids whom I personally know, because, "he wasn't complying to my orders". The kid responded by turning around and pushing him back. He was then thrown on the ground and handcuffed. The other 2 students were arrested for attempting to pull the officer off of their friend.

Wether a hoax or real. I find it horrid. What was the administration thinking? What good is a lockdown when the majority of the people in the building have no idea that they are in lockdown (including staff)? To read it on the internet?? HELLO???? That coming from a teacher. So what good was a lockdown? Lets just thank the good lord above that this ended without incident and NOW, evaluate what we did wrong and figure out how to fix this huge communication error between administration and staff.

I drove my son to school today, assuming it would be a mob scene of police & metal detectors. Wrong! Not a cruiser in sight... nothing. This situation was handled badly from start to finish. MHS needs to train their faculty & security how to handle something like this in case the real thing were to ever happen. Prompt & honest communication with parents is a must.
