I knew Greg from the time he was about six or seven to about the age of 14 or 15. In my opinion, he was never disciplined properly. He was scolded by his mother when he did wrong (his father was a virtual non-presence), but there was no real consequence to his misbehavior...at least none that I ever saw. As a result, I believe he did not truly learn the difference between right and wrong...or more specifically, he did not learn to feel WHY wrong is wrong and WHY right is right. To me, it seemed that he knew what behavior to hide and what behavior to show-off, but not the internal moral compass that should go along with it.

In any event, his quality of life has been seriously compromised due to the results of his actions. Maybe now he understands...I hope so.

You forget I'm still a girl. It doesn't matter that I know Greg and have seen a side of him few have seen.... and I'm not excusing the boys' behavior by any means. But you're also not seeing the facts to both sides... were you aware BRIAN that the girl was a prostitute? Not that it makes it right... but egging on boys isn't what girls should be taught to do.
I love the fact that you all know EXACTLY what happened considering you both live in Oregon & New Jersey! You weren't there... nor do you live in Cali or even know Greg for that matter. The interesting thing to point out here is that while the 2 of you have some deep dark skeletons in your closet, well, Greg won't have any more secrets hidden for he fears the consequences. These people defending Haidl in this thread are seriously scaring me. The law should never take into consideration where a person comes from or what they do professionally in regards to the victim. She is a human being and she was violated as it is described within the context of the law. Period.

Haidl and his cohorts have the "rest of their lives" to think about what they did wrong!... They will not be able to partake in the simple Liberties that we take for granted everyday, like vote, get a decent job, go to a good school, a public park or even get a passport to leave the country!... I believe that facts are as follows: The girl had public sex with two of the three guys just the day before the "crime." Then, the next day, she drove all the way to OC to party with them. Wheher she was really "unconsious" when the video was made we will never know. However, what is for sure is that the 3 boys have been made out to be villans by the press, sent to prison, labeled as sexual preditors and will be forever branded by this event. On the other hand "jesica" has gotten or will get rich by bringing a civil law suit against the Haidl family and, throughout the whole ordeal, her name and face have been shielded by the press. Now, she can go out in public without being recognized and can go merilly on with her life (with a whole lot more money than she had before).

I studied this case... I'm surprised to see the comments here... Those boys were stupid, very very stupid, but sadistic rapists... come on, are you kidding me.

They are not rapists, they are stupid spoiled teenage boys that found themselves with a slutty and also stupid teenage girl, and had way too much to drink. The girl had sex with two of them the day before !! She surely got more then what she came for that night, but she certainly didn't come there to play pool. I am certain that she would have had sex with the three of them drunk or not (she did the day before). And that's the important point. The intent. They had no intention in ever rapping anybody, during the act rape never crossed their mind, and she had the intention of having sex with them. The problem is that the boys went to far, but it was not rape. She even slept their ! You mean to tell me she woke up soar and with sperm on herself and she didn't know she had sex with them.

Stupid boys with extremely irresponsible girl ended in a disaster for all of them. As much as I have no respect for those boys (for their stupidity and abuse) I also have no respect for that girl, I think she is calling it a rape just to save face in front of her family.

John...you are absolutely correct. That is exactly the situation. Undisciplined, little rich kids with no supervision and an unsavory little girl. Parents need to be held accountable for their incredible lack of parenting.

Agree with john! When interviewed by 48hrs investigators - they asked the girl why she went to the house alone on july 5th - her response "i was dating one of the guys". so why did she have sex with his friend too the night before? i would have been so embarassed had I done that. she knew what she was doing. she said she likes being the center of attention. she probably would have gone back july 6th, but the tape came out - and so she had to save face.

i think the boys are very dumb, and obviously undisciplined - but rapists?

I agree with John, very irresponsible girl...no, those spoiled rotten rich kids should not have done what they did...but she should not have been there...she is not innocent in all this...she knew what she was going back for...SEX..just not the kind they gave her...I am glad the boys are out and they can start living again...this girl was also arrested for using drugs just a few weeks or so after one of the trials...so, innocent, i dont think so...bad situation for all involved.

i think if my dad was worth 80+ million dollars...i'd manage to live an enjoyable life someway or another...even if i had to register as a sexual deviant. im glad they're out of jail and glad this dog and pony show is over.
