What happened after the Newport vs. Stuttgart game?

I heard there was a fight.? Anyone hurt?

i dont know bout that but i do know how upset everyone was that we lost the first round of playoffs esp by one point! when was the last time that happend?

all we had to do was kick a field goal and we would have won this thing. this has happened for the last three years. we have lost important games by a field goal. there was a fight some girl got hurt.those little Stuttgart kids are so disrespectful. they knew Newport was upset about the loss and they decided that when they got to the gate (on Newport side) they wanted to rub it in. people were trying to stop the fight but the Stuttgart kids started taking off their shirts and hurling insults at the newport kids. its a shame that it happened.

Didn't Newport have a chance to kick a short field goal with about 4 minutes left in the game to put it out of reach but decided to go for it on 4th down and get stopped?

I heard that someone got shot is that correct or incorrect?

Kids today are just not taught sportsmanship. Its really sad. Newport lost, but they played a good game. It was only a matter of calling the plays.

yes they had a chance to kick for a short field goal .. however, they had already missed two field goals before .. so i understand the decision to not kick and to "go for it" ..it just sucks that the quarter back got sacked ..

i was watching the game on channel 15 this a.m. and there was one time, where #57, tried to show some sportsmenship to one of stuttgart players and the ricebird player blew Gonzo off .. after the game was over stuttgart showed some very poor behavier, it's one thing to be a sore loser .. it's totally different to be a sore winner .. that's just crazy .. as we were leaving the game (we parked at the country club) the rice birds were coming off of the field yelling nasty things toward the bleachers .. the sad thing is that only adults (and small kids) were in the bleachers .. so they were actually disrespecting the adults too .. those kids need some home training .. i would hope that if our players acted like that, that the coach would put his foot up their butt!

It was a sad night..not only to have to watch the boys you grew up cheering on have their season to come to an end, but having to endure the negative and rude things the Stutgart fans were doing.
I was standing by a Senior player crying his eyes out as a Stuttgart man blew a duck call so loud it made our ears ring. That was ridiculous.
Our boys did their best and they never let us down.
I will miss every minute of watching my fellow clasmates play football.!

Even if we were not that great at kicking field goals I still would've kicked it and the game would've been put away if it was good! Newport's problem this season was well we did'nt have Thamail Morgan which was a big loss,we have no passing game what so ever and sometimes I just wonder if Houston Nutt is texting plays to coach Brannon on what plays we need to go with. In my opioion I think they should've gave coach Mathis the job when it came open but no they pass him up and give it to Brannon and I can't blame coach Mathis leaving Newport and coaching at Siloam Springs now and I can't blame coach Lewis or Black for hanging around either. They hanged around long enough waiting on coach Mathis to get the job. Something is going to have to change! We move back into the same conference we were in 06-07 and this just running the ball is not going to cut it. We really need a passing game like Nashville,Shiloh Christian,Warren and also Pulaski Academy drops down from 5a to 4a next season so the Hounds better make some changes!

Hey Razorback Hummer, that was not the question. We are not talking about your choice for coach and the play you would have called. Thamail Morgan had his own issues that I don't want to plaster on the internet, but I would rather lose without him if that is what it takes. Anyway, that is not the question at hand either.

I agree with you 100%!!! We NEED Coach Mathis!!! He should've had the job when it first came open!!!

What is your problem? Don't know anything about Thamail Morgan, but seems to me he was giving a compliment as to his playing ability. Are you the 'Topix Police'? Good grief!!! i don't agree with everything that the coach does by no means .. but i hae a feeling that f he would have kicked the ball and missed .. some ppl would have been saying "it was 2 yards, he should have gone for it" .. some ppl are just never happy .. it was a sad night that they didn't win .. my greyhound is a senior .. i was looking forward to them having more games .. but, oh well, ish happens ..

Yeah i'm with you all the way on if we would've kicked the field goal and it missed,yes you would have some Newport fans going why didn't we go for it but when it's late in the ballgame and your up 27-21 I would've kicked a field goal even if we had Dmac on our team I would not try to punch it in when it was 4th and 2!

You sound as though you have something against Thamail. From the looks of it he is doing better than any of us right now. One of his awesome plays will be on at Super Bowl next year. And, I agree it would have helped us if we did have him. I still love my GREYHOUNDS!!!!!!!!

There had already been words between the kids (both sides) before that. It takes both sides to fight and most teenagers at some point or another can be disrespectful...can't put all of the blame on the Stuttgart kids...I doubt that Stuttgart sends anymore pep buses to games because of the situation.
