Police officer charged with child molestation

If this story is true, and he did in fact have sex with this young girl he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And people wonder why the police have a bad reputation in some areas.

It's sad when this happens to any family, but men of all job positions have committed this crime. It doesn't make it right, but don't profile. It just makes headlines when a law enforcement officer breaks any the law. It doesn't mean that all law enforcement officers think that way.

If the law demanded a sentence of castration for this offense then half of them would disappear and the other half would only happen once!

This guy should be shot. Good thing it wasn't my daughter or he would've been!

If he did it? Well I hope to be listening to this trial while it goes on. The last couple of times someone was on trial for child molestation in Newnan I remember saying " They will never get out" This is one of Newnan Finest so I cant wait to see if he'll get what he deserve when he's found guilty

He should be tried out of town because this city will let him off easy.

If the law says a 15 yo or younger can be tried as an adult for serious crimes like murder or robbery then why can't 15 year olds be held liable for having consensual sex with older adults too?

This "no tolerance" prosecutions for child sex is getting too much like medieval withcraft persecuting.

Does anyone remember the Coweta Co judge who was pulled over for DUI, WAY over the limit, but driven home by the officer rather than taken to jail, and given nothing more than a slap on the wrist when the event came to light?

And how about in the mid 80's the then prosecuting attorney, Ed Mallory, who was eventually arrested out of state for abandoning his wife and children?

I agree, especially with your last statement. Did this police officer actually admit to this relationship? I tried to read the story at the top of the page, but got a "page not found" message when I clicked on the story link, so I couldn't get all the details.

If this officer didn't admit or "confess" to a sexual relationship, then to me it remains an accusation only at this point. And accusations are NOT proof.

Yes, there are many of those, but that doesn't mean ALL cops are corrupt or crooked. The problems arise when the good police officers don't kick the bad ones off the force.

As for this particular officer, I stand by what I said earlier, that an accusation alone isn't evidence or proof of criminal wrongdoing. The problem is that once ANY person is accused of any kind of sex crime, the accused is automatically judged "guilty" long before any trial begins. That makes it a very easy win for the prosecution, even if the accused had done NOTHING wrong at all.

...or the prominent fromer senator and current attorney and a doctor who took beer from the Kwickie store on Franklin Road about twelve years ago because the clerk would not sell it to them after purchasing hours!

The police were called about the two individuals and the Lieutenant was scared to file charges on them.
